If Donald Trump were atheist, he'd have fewer enemies on the planet.

This is a joke, right?

It's incredibly common for religious people to think atheists are void of morality. Of friggin morality!

Gallup polls also consistently show atheism as being the #1 deterrent to being elected as POTUS. *Recently surpassed only by 'socialist'.

Exactly! Atheists are lower than lawyers on the likeability scale.

They have to lie about it, I'm just amazed that Trump is so bad at it whilst being a master in all other situations.

This DeVos lady, she is scary, she is literally on a mission to destroy public education in the US. I can see the Senate hearings now,

I can absolutely see here Gerrymandering school districts in a racial divide.

Gonna set us back 50 years of all that's been accomplished to move us forward.

Charters and vouchers is all she is interested in, she has friends that will profit both ways. Rick Scott in Florida the same way.

I know.

So parents who put their kids in private Christian schools can use public funding.

As if, public education funds can spread any thinner.

Better than the nine month abortions we are paying for.

No kidding? I thought if you were Muslim, all the Christians would dislike you. If you were Christian, it'd be hard to get the Muslim votes. On and on... BUT, if you didn't ascribe to ANY religion, none of the religious groups treat you as a competitive enemy.

In life, I work with all kinds of people. They often ask me what religion I am. I exclaim, "NONE!...God loves all his children equally!". That subject is instantly done, and off the table at that point.

Interesting question, and the answer is not black and white.

Does Donald Trump believe in the Christian God? Possibly, although I suspect not, and it's a passing belief he doesn't dwell on if so. I doubt he prays, for instance.

If he does, is it accurate to consider him a Christian, and if he isn't a Christian, what is he?

To answer the question we need to ignore his words (he's a proven liar, his word is useless), and look at his actions, and his behaviour. Christianity espouses certain behaviour, such as humility, honesty, integrity, helping of those less fortunate, servitude, and disciplined behaviour.

Absolutely none of those qualities remotely reflect Donald Trump. Yes, the religion says we are flawed, but at least some attempt is supposed to be made to follow the ways of Christ, but instead, Trump rebels aggressively against all of those traits, and associates them with foolishness and weakness.

To call him a Christian seems absurd.

So...what is he? Well, hype aside, if one investigates Satanism and it's basic tenets, Aleister Crowley essentially says "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law". If that philosophy doesn't describe Trump then I don't know what does!

In my opinion, Trump should be considered a walking advertisement and blatant adherent of the philosphy of Satanism.

Yes, absolutely. This is a Satanist philosophy in a nutshell.

The foundation of all Christian Religious Teachings is forgiveness by God/Jesus.

Not to this Christian's understanding. The true foundation of Jesus' teachings is love. The only commandment Jesus gave the people was to love. Jesus told us the greatest of Moses' commandments was love.

You cannot consider yourself a Christian in any sense of the word if you've never asked for forgiveness.

I have never asked forgiveness. I have "repented" and expressed remorse for my mistakes. I have promised myself and the angels that I would do better. I have asked for wisdom and guidance and strength to do better. I have never ever asked for forgiveness, and I can think of nowhere in the New Testament that Jesus demanded we ask for forgiveness. His only instruction was that we sin no more -- once we understand that we have erred.

Forgiveness is Their thing and They forgive no matter what we do or don't do.

I accept Trump's professed faith at his word. I have heard him speak of his faith, and I have known him to attend church services with his family.

For most people, faith is a very personal thing. I would never ever presume to judge someone else's faith -- especially not upon the limited view that I personally see or perceive about the person. It's between them and the Heavens.

But even if he is an atheist, doesn't matter one whit to me. Atheists and agnostics can be just as moral as people of faith. Indeed, some atheists and agnostics can be even more moral than some people of faith.

Fair enough, It's a great book. Stupidly long, but that's Stephen King I guess.
I've only read it once, i've attempted multiple times but get to the point where I remember everything and stop.

Even the movie is like 8hrs.

I do own both, and I'm a massive fan. Just pointing out that I'm a fan enough to be annoyed by someone saying they've seen the movie rather than the actual book.

But to the point, I don't remember a president less convincing when it comes to religion whilst being able to manipulate every other situation to his needs. It just seems strange to me.

I love books.

I have 4 tall bookshelves in my home (and some boxes and other shelves), full of books, many of which I read many times.
One entire shelf is dedicated to Stephen King books. And yes, many of them are fat books.
(Another shelf is all Robert Jordan books... see quote in my sig... mostly very fat books... most read several times.)
Usually movie versions are disappointing, but I think they did a good job with The Stand.

The thing about Trump is:.
His faith is his own. He has his own way of believing.
He does not push it in people's faces.
He does not pretend to be a perfect Christian.
He does not condemn those who don't believe.
He does not judge people whose lifestyle does not conform to the Christian way.
He respects those who believe in Judaism - his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren are Jewish.
He respects the rights of people to believe as the wish (with the exception of extremism leading to terrorism, but even there he is not against all Muslims as the MSM makes you believe.).

I always felt that people like Cruz are hypocritical.
They thump their bibles and praise God all over the place, condemning those who do not share their faith.
They act like they are some kind of perfect Christian, judging others.

That's why I don't understand this thread.
No, Trump is not an atheist.
He has made it clear that he wants to be a president for ALL people.
This includes atheists, as well as other religions.
So, what does it really matter what his faith is?
That's a personal thing between a man and his God.

It was pretty obvious that trump was lying to mainstream Christianity to get their votes.

Voting for trump switched people from Christianity to Conspirianity.

Without their knowledge.
