Hello. Think this as a little poll. In the last 10 years I believe really good rock bands disappeared. I am here to figure new stuff from beloved ATS members. By the nowadays I meant the bands who have demand and making money + good music. Yes I know this is an interesting poll. This making money brings up good management; good investment, good publicity and hardcore fans so it will give me distinctive info because market info is also important to me. This has some research qualities. =)

You can give 2 to 3 names or more if you want to definitely.

Best

'Rock' is a very loose umbrella term. Also, are you wanting bands that formed in say 06-present? What about older bands that are still producing good music?

No, theres actually lots and lots of great rock bands. They just get hardly any marketing from rhe music industry now. Its a mess as a musician these days. What kind of rock? Moderate rock, psych rock, punk, oi...?

A few of my favorites:
Street Dogs, Booze & Glory, Perkele in Oi.
Spoon is great if you want mellow.
Portishead for something different.
Black Angels for psych rock
White Lung for aggressive hard rock.
Theres a whole bunch of good local punk bands in Austin (where I live). Theres like 10 I would put in regular rotation.

Deerhunter, great "indy" band from Georgia.
Animal Collective, ultimate psychedelic band.
Electric Wizard, wonderful Doom Metal band. Start with the album Dope Throne.
Brian Jonestown Massacre, been around for about 25 years I suppose, still they are always great, every single album.
Grizzly Bear, softer indy rock, sort of like the gay Crosby Stills and Nash - but much better.
Liars, they are all over the place, mostly electronic lately though
Chelsea Wolf, sort of like PJ Harvey I suppose - but not.
Yowie, greatest weirdo math rock band ever.
Black Angels, great psych rock band from Texas.
Jagwar Ma - dancy poppy trippy
M.I.A. female rapper from India/England. Very interesting beats and so on
Micachu - British gal, sort of art pop stuff. Interesting.

I can't think of anymore right now.

Yeah I used the term rock as a bold example which would include many of the side styles. Just left it up to you. Btw yeah these are included as well, the ones still doing good music.

Indeed it is
I see your Mary's blood and raise you a wagakki band!

Might as well toss this up also though for unique j-rock fusion:

I also do like Band Maid, but its perhaps a bit too...hmm..jrock vocaloid. sort of what you would expect to be playing at the end credits of a anime

Still...Babymetal is sitting on top for imports imo

ehh?
in 2005, they weren't...around.
I think the main singer was hmm..well, she is 19 next month, so she would have been 8 years old.
so..she was in a different band. lol (they start em early in Japan)
Gonna assume you meant more on the lines of 2012ish when they first started making waves.
They got insanely huge. broke the all time merch record at wembley stadium earlier this year when they kicked off their latest tour. They just finished a world tour and every venue they booked was sold out.

Japanese beetles invasion..slowly anyhow. They just got done a 2 night end of the tour at Tokyo Dome. both nights sold out. Tokyo Dome capacity: 55 thousand.

...insane. Haven't seen those numbers for a metal band since. hmm.
...I cant remember. perhaps Iron Maiden in their powerslave album, but even they were boasting about their concert of 11 thousand. Gotta go into mainstream pop music to hit those numbers.

Wow, that was..really good.
gonna have to watch a bunch of other stuff they have done.

You're right. seems the Asian, specifically Japanese, female metal/rock thing is blowing up. its a thing.

I always did wonder what happens to idols when they are put out to pasture

Funny, I wasn't sure they were Japanese. I could make out some words..mostly particles, but the tattoo on the lead singers arm threw me off. rebel.
