Crush TPP with a sledge hammer. The trade deals are not deals at all. We always get screwed. Every single time.

Yes it was!

He comes across well. Not polished like Obama when he has a script but more like a person who is speaking from his heart. Or he is just really good at projecting this.

He is on the right track but will get lots of flack from the greenies.

the TPP needs to be left, and a new deal in place with fair countries. Japan, South Korea. thats pretty much it until other nations start with employee standards, QC, and fair trade practices overall. I reckon with a bit of prodding, places like phillipines could jump in, but their president cozying up to china and russia is worrying..perhaps they need to be left out until they reverse course.

..weird how two people can watch the same thing and get completely different things from it.

I am not a Trump supporter, so thats probably the difference (not a Hil supporter either though, was neutral in this election and I am in a sit back and see what happens mentality here)

This, to me, sounded like the second run through a written script. no punctuation, no pauses to allow for processing, it was a bit like a awkward junior high schooler reading off a chapter of a book he was told to read out loud.

Literally one of the most insensere thing I have heard in years upon years...what I think about the content is beside the point...but the way he speaks is...hmm.
I think we need a presidental pitch talker..maybe Obama can take a job to deliver his speeches.

1) TPP: Good...get better trade deals

2) Energy: lol.."clean coal" it didn't exist when Obama said it, it doesn't exist when Trump says it. Congrats OPEC. we are your bitches once again. -cough

3) deregulation: great...so Make America Great Again is basically saying lets be more like China. (many regulations are there for a reason)

4) DOD Cyber: this...this is gonna be the big one. this is going to initiate a firewall in the name of security if left unchecked

5) Immigration: that didn't make sense. a visa that hurts jobs? its the illegals that are the issues..the work visas..are for workers you numbskull.

6) ethics: 5 year ban on *officials*...most lobbiests are unofficial. this is 100% tokenism. no swamp drained for you

so. 100% noise, no substance, and tbh, some worrying views (the dod cyber stuff is not to be played down, this could very well be the authoritarian clampdown on the net. you cant protect america from cyber attacks..you can protect institutions via firewalls...thats it. Watch this one. this is the one that will have lasting effects if put in place.

Yeah, I didn't get that.
I got corporate interests, more corporate interests, and a dangerous new view on "security" in a sort of cyber patriot act potential.

I got that he was going to be more American focused.

Do you think Trump is going to bow to other leaders like our beer summit Pres?

and by bow, do you mean does he know the customs on meeting other cultures? chances are yes, he knows the culture and how to greet properly.

In asia, bowing is a sign of honor and respect. I dont expect Trump to low bow, as he is leader of the free world and is on equal grounds with the biggest names in all of Asia, but he should bow in a "nixon" way to lower the head and shoulders at a 15 degree angle for a second. This is the casual bow to peers. If he wants to be super official, he can go to a full 30 degrees to the head of state, in which case they also should meet the same.

I think are you asking if Trump will have honor and respect.

he doesn't seem the type, but who knows...he might surprise me and show he has some dignity.

Obama went too low btw if you want to know. a 45 degree is what you do to a superior, and a long 45 degree (3 seconds) is a apologetic inferior.
bowing is a thing..the POTUS is a world leader..he needs to know the formal and informal way to greet someone at the bare minimum.

I'm sure he was briefed on proper etiquette, so he did it correctly? Was it intentional?

Even if he did bring back a decent percentage of jobs at decent wages people would still complain. Those people don't want jobs. They want something for doing nothing.

FYI: We already have FREE COLLEGE

It's called the Reserves. You join, serve one weekend a month, two weeks in the summer and you have a free education for doing a marginal amount of work, basically free. Also access to great healthcare and life insurance for CHEAP!

Now this is something I can get behind. We as Canadians were about to get bent over royally with the TPP as were all the nations. This was purely a corporate power grab at the sacrifice of sovereignty.

Yeah screw the TPP and the dirtbags it rode in on.

Canada loves free trade. They totally screwed us over with NAFTA in the US. The US use to have a TRADE SURPLUS before NAFTA. Now we have a busted effin fish tank. Everything is pouring out of America. Nothing pouring in. Companies leaving for cheap labor, corporate raiding for fake tax breaks. Hell, I have gone through two corporate raids. One of them they were not even trying to make money. Just gut the operation and use it for a tax loss shelter.

Agreed, we heard that an Iphone will cost thousands and thousands of $ from the right radio talk show hosts (who are millionaires). If they move these types of jobs to the US, I look forward to seeing the show......

Are you kidding? We got screwed on softwood, cattle, pork, Petroleum. Virtually our entire industrial base has packed up and either moved to the U.S. and Mexico or Asia. Our economy now is based on resources, mostly oil and bitumen, which is worthless and we're hanging by a thread and the good graces of Obama and soon to be Trump. The real estate market is dominated by the Chinese and is bubbled beyond belief.

Yeah we won't cry over losing NAFTA either.

Tell me the last time you saw a 'Made in Canada' label on anything other than Maple Syrup.
