I agree with Truelies that the evidence in scriptures from all over the world leads us to believe that there must have been some form of flooding.
But then again just cuz we have a mention of the flood in stories all over the world does not mean it happened all over the world. Heck we have pyramids spread apart and we cant figure out how the civilizations came up with that independently. This is just speculation but the flood myth/story/event must have happened in a remote location and the story spread. Each civilization making changes to the story and passing it on thru generations.
There is absolutely NO WAY that most of the fresh water fish survived when "earth was blanketed with salt water" Its just not possible. Unless god pulled each bugger out and put em in a fishtank.
And Noah's ark may have been real. But think about it. You're in a society thats technologically backwards. You dont know the earth is round. You see water all around you, you'd think the whole world is flooded. You dont know many species. Maybe a buncha goats, sheep, pigs, cows, chickens, pigeons, uh...thts about it right? Yep that would be all the earth contained ( according to you) so you load em all up. Which would take only a decent size space in on an ark and voila! you're done! You eat your little shish kabobs and 40 days later vacations over boys.
Sorry i dont mean to be disrespectfull so dont flame me! :-(

So i ask you, logically how could this be?
i want the question to be answer as directly as possible, and ill be happy if anyone would like to add their own theories or idea.
look forward to reading your replies.

"He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together.
Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress."
[Surat Al Rahman Verse 19-20]

"And He it is who hath let loose the two seas, the one sweet, fresh; and the other salt, bitter; and hath put an interspace between them, and a barrier that cannot be passed."
[Surat Al Furkan Verse 53]

It is scientifically prooved that the water of some seas don't mix with anothers . For example , when the water of the Mediterranean meets the water of the Atlantic it don't mix with it but it goes under it because it is heavier than it .
The same with the Black sea and the Mediterranean .

Salt and sweet waters can meet together , but they can't mix together , this is like water and oil .
The Amazon river makes the Atlantic's water sweet for several miles from their meetpoint .
The rivers of Ganj and Gamuna don't mix together in the city of Allah Abad in India .

When the great flood occured , it covered all the lands . The sweet water sources and rivers didn't mix with the salt waters of the flood (as shown above) and the sweet water fishes lived in their normal habitat .

You can't assume that all the flood water was salt water . And even if all the planet was covered with salt water , you need to prove that there wasn't streams of sweet waters under them .

thats very interesting, thanks for your reply

but im not convinced, can you please provide me with a link so i can read over it? i would make and assumption that fresh water indeed mixes with salt water, orself rainfall in the oceans would create a pocket of pure fresh water at the seas surface, and how would there be salt water in the first place? im guessing your referring to sweet water as fresh water, as you said to the Amazonian river having *sweet water*, i would referred to it as fresh.
and this is all besides the facts that the whole fishes ecosystem would be totally destroyed, the oxygen levels would decrease the deeper the water would be, assuming that a global flood occured, the water rises atleast 20,000ft above normal sea level, good luck to those fishes. and most the plantae life form like algae would die off in this fresh water rivers due to lack of sunlight, they wouldnt have enough time to adapt to the decrease in sunlight over a very short period of time.
and we all know what happens to a card tower(ecosystem) when you pull the a bottom card out(plants), it falls.

Salt water and fresh water don't mix easily but tend to form layers :

www.southsloughestuary.org...

1 -
The duration of the flood as reported in the bible is between 7 and 40 days :

"the storm had swept...for seven days and seven nights" Ziusudra 203
"For seven days and seven nights came the storm" Atrahasis III,iv,24
"Six days and seven nights the wind and storm flood" Gilgamesh XI,127
"rain fell upon the earth forty days and forty nights" Genesis 7:12

By theory 2 fishes from every species have to survive the flood to give birth for new fishes.

There is a possibility that the flood may had occured on the season of laying eggs , so the fishes layed their eggs and the survivor eggs who don't need oxygen and plantae , continued their life after the flood ended .

The Salmon fish for example , it burries its eggs under 12-15 cm of gravel at the bottom of a stream . The eggs remain buried in the gravel for the winter months, and hatch in early spring . These tiny fish have a yolk sac which is their food supply for a month , so they don't need to hunt for food.

Concerning the salinity of the water :
The flood was composed from saline and non-saline water . The saline water was of the oceans and seas , the non-saline water was of the rain from the skies , and from under the land .
[ Then the word went forth: "O earth! swallow up thy water, and O sky! Withhold (thy rain)!" and the water abated, and the matter was ended. The Ark rested on Mount Judi, and the word went forth: "Away with those who do wrong!" ][11:44]

Even if the two waters mixed , the slainity level may be reduced to a degree that sweet water fishes can handle it .

The bible indicates a flood period from 40-150 days. Some of the references you pointed out are not even from the bible.

Just providing some information, I'm not attacking.

From Genesis:
7:11 - In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
7:17 - And the flood was forty days upon the earth;
7:24 - And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.
8:3 - And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.

Wait wait WAIT! What's this stuff about 6,000 years? Is there something I'm missing? How come for Noah's Ark to be true, it would have to have taken place 6,000 years ago!? Just because some people think that the earth is only 6,000 years old doesn't mean that that's the basis for Christianity.

Exactly! The earth is older, but that does not mean it was not created.
Funny, how it has always been there, and still is,yet it is almost impossible to see it...

There is no ark. You will never, ever, ever find one. There is no evidence of an ark. I see television programs all the time claiming they have evidence, and the truth is that they dont. They are liars, who fool the feeble minded. They know when they broadcast and distribute this information that it is VERY LIKELY incorrect, no matter what it seems like. Yet they do it anyway.

You find me an ark, on top of a mountain, with provisions to keep every living creature on earth alive for 150 days, all packed into a 450 X 75 X 45 foot area, and I will accept Jesus christ and speak in tongues the next day.

Im so glad I can say that knowing it will never happen. Why are people so willing to believe that they discard science that sits right in front of them saying otherwise? Fear is amazing.

Coincedentally, I just reviewed this site not more than two months ago.

They use dates supposedly given in genesis, as fact. When in reality no such dates were ever given, and those dates are assumed.

They give eyewitness accounts of people climbing on the ark...entire villages! Indicating that the ark lies above ground somewhere within walking distance of a village. One such eyewitness account states:

"he could see where the Ark is from the rim of the crater of Lake Kop. "

www.r-j.it...

This is an exact description of where the ark supposedly was "climbed upon" by an entire village. It includes landmarks, distance, ect. It is used as evidence on this website for the existence of the ark. Again, funny how the ark supposedly was not on Mt. Ararat when it was found. Oh yeah, funny how IT DISSAPEARED!!!! Why is it that christians are still looking for this ark, if it was above ground and found? It is really amazing to me. The people who made this website, actually are counting on the fact that a christian is not capable of connecting the dots and figuring out they are putting up contradictory evidence.

On Febuary 20, 1993, a show was aired on CBS. "The Incredible Discovery of Noahs Ark". Much information from that show, is present on this website, even though this person "supposedly" does his own research. What is significant about this show, is that it was a hoax. It was an intentional hoax revealed to the public very shortly after all the christians went nuts. They believed this show HAHAHAHAHA. Then the people who made it laughed at them for being so simple minded and naive. Evidence in the show consisted of mathematical calcualtions nearly exact to the ones provided on this site. Pictures, which coincedentally some of these same pictures are on this site. (the pictures were faked by the creaters of the show by the way).

The funniest thing is the names this hoaxer used on the poor christians....ON TV NONE THE LESS! Read these carefully:

Mr. Asholian
Vladimir Sobitchsky
Allis Buls Hitian (thats my favorite)

The story told in the TV show was the Lake Cop Story provided above.

I am going to go into more detail in the next few days as to why this is total nonsese. I will first show their math incorrect, then their logic, then their evidence.

Is the Noah's Ark story supposed to be taken literally anyway?

Has the Ark landed in Turkey what did all the carnivores eat?
How did all the marsupials end up going to Australia?
Would the land vegetation of the world not die off from being underwater for so long?(Not enough sunlight)
What about the insects? There is nearly one million known species of insects in the world.
How could the reptiles survive to cold temperatures of being atop a mountain?

Seriously isn't the Noah's ark story just a warning not to be bad or god will wipe us out?

I would argue that Noahs Ark is just a story that has itself evolved from a simple flood story. Humans exagerate, and so their stories sometimes become incredible. Noah's ark probably came from a story of a large flood. One that at the time could not be explained in any other way but a Gods wrath. Today of course, we can tell you exactly why a tsunami occurs.

I would argue that every culture around the world has a flood story because sumeri is the craddle of civilization, just like the bible says it is.

Maya, Hopy, Navajo, Egyptian, sumerian, Polynesian all relate back to the flood and have some tie to the religion called Babylon in Revelation.

I gotta agree with Seapeeps on this one. If you add up all the years that passed between Adam and Eve to Noah, there're only about 1600 years. So demographically speaking, the spread of humankind couldn't have been all that great. So God wiped out the area. It may not have been the world, because that would be a pointless waste of water. People would have been concentrated in one small area still. It still killed everyone though.

If the flood didn't covered the whole earth , why Noah did carry the creatures and birds into the Ark ? It was supposed to save them from sinking .

If the story of the Ark ( not the flood) was invented , why and who invented it ?

What are the evidences of the invention of this story . ( Other than it is not prooved scientifically ) .
