I am far from a computer guy, The basic I can tell you without looking at the sticker is it's an Acer. at least 3 years old. My buddy, a computer guy set it up for me when I bought it ( he is no longer easily available) with 3 user accounts. Widows 7 Professional I think, 7 for sure

1 was called install, had admin privileges and password protected. I know the password, but was to keep me from installing junk inadvertenly...

2 was me, I password protected and

3 was guest...

I turned on my computer this morning and logged into my acct. and got this message

the User Profile Service failed the logon
User profile cannot be loaded.

I can log in under install and guest but not my acct.

The thing that bugs me most is I have lots of pics of lots of stuff I cannot access on the other accts. grand kids, my wedding , house renovations etc... I hope they are still there.

I guess I am curious if that logon msg. is something that can be overcome somewhat easily?

Hi, here is a great video that will help you.

You need to restart your PC in safe mode.

Look into the below program. I keep it around for just such emergencies

Tweaking.com - Windows repair

Warning - runs a very . very long time.
Not saying it works for everyone. Has for me twice with Windows 10 for nearly the same issue.
Disclaimer - although it has worked for me twice , and was referred by "Bleeping Computer" I take no responsibility...

Thanks for that, to me that page looks a little busy. I am sure I could figure it out so I do appreciate it.

I think I am going to try the "simple" fix the video shows... only 27 simple steps, what could go wrong??? lol....

But really I do appreciate and thank you

I do Some IT work too. You will love this one. Today I unpacked a brand new Dell with Windows 10. Set it up and power it on.

Guess what it said at power up? This computer is not compatable with Windows 10. Lol

Ok back in the box and shipped back to Dell.

UEFI related message. Nowadays manufacturers are locking in the OS via UEFI
One reason why I build my own since time immemorial 30+ years. I need a new hobby)

Nothin to figure out. Run the program and use the defaults (I choose all) . Go out to dinner. Rent 2 good movies. Watch them. Seriously , it ran for 4 hrs. When the program was finished , I was surprised out how Windows 10 ran.

The company I work for wants to go right out of the box. Yes I would rather build one and use Linux. They won't go for that.

Sorry OP I went off topic.

How about three simple steps?

1. Boot into repair mode with your installation media. Find those directions on any site.

2. Open command line rename your corrupted user profile under c:users.

3. Reboot

On reboot windows should regenerate your profile. Alternatively you can create a user in command line and login parallel to your corrupted account.
