I've been haunting this place off and on for a few years and decided to join after reading this thread. I didn't read every single line, but I skimmed it pretty good and saw a number of people asking about how/where to get a veteran's ID. I was just medically retired from the AF and I found my nearest RAPIDS center using the below site. It was a USN location, but they served me no problem. Hope this helps.

I have had no problems whatsoever getting a retired military ID (medically).. but have never gotten a Va Id, im not sure they give one except for certain VA hospitals.. i have a printed paper from the VA for MO and Il hunting and fishing license (rated at 70%) but no ID, was under the impression that VA doesn't do ID's typically. Not sure if its a state thing or hospital thing or what the deal is.
