President Duterte of the Phillippines Has Started to Humble Himself to President-Elect Trump

So you know since he got elected Mr. Duterte has been speaking very not nice things of our sitting President and has come out saying some rather inflammatory things about the future relations with the USA. Now that Trump is in charge, he is but a "mere molecule" in his own words.

Duterte on Trump comparison: I'm just a small molecule
The two leaders, who both rode populist waves and beat perceived pro-establishment candidates, are often compared for their brash language. Duterte has repeatedly attacked incumbent US President Barack Obama for criticizing his bloody war on drugs.

"I'm just a small molecule in this planet, he's now the president of the most powerful country in the world," Duterte said in a televised news conference from Davao City.

"I am just a president struggling to barely... above the water," Duterte said.

The President said he shared with the Republican real estate mogul and reality television star a "passion to serve" the people.

Duterte said the US, under Trump will remain a "friend" and an "ally" and agreements between the two countries will be respected.

"The respect should be there, and in all matters that would affect our two countries, especially the treaties that we signed with them and there are so many agreements. It will be honored, all of these things," he said.

Thank you sir, what a nice 360° about face on how you speak of the USA and its President and our commitments to treaties. How very humbling of you.

Looks like we are already off to a good start with mending some relationships with foreign leaders that have been under scrutiny lately.

Trump has done more for world peace in 6 days than Obama has done in 8 years.

Do you think they'll give Trump the Nobel Peace Prize, like they did right after Obama was elected?

I always found it disturbing he got that prize, but expanded the drone assassination program farther, wider, and more frequently than it ever had been. Not to mention destruction of Libya, destruction of Syria, approving Saudis destruction of Yemen, outright enabling the riots in the USA.

Some man of peace he turned out to be. And its like we are just supposed to believe it because he talks proper and puts on a smile?? That award needs to be revoked.

To add to your statement.
Obama said "I'm good at killing people" in reference to the drone program.

This is the same thing that happened when Reagan got elected the first time,
The world was crapping on the U.S. when carter was president,but as soon as Reagan won, the world was falling over themselves to kiss his ass, Iran even released the hostages.

once again this proves that bargaining from a position of strength is always more productive than bargaining from a position of weakness.

Fairly straight forward politics,

Duterte did not trust Obama or the USA, esp when they had foces within the Philippines and yet they still had major threats from Isis affiliates. He did not agree with Obamas foreign policy and was frustrated with the way he was told to run his own country by UN officials (That is another thread BTW)..

He opened up ties with Russia and China, sorted the situation in the South China sea and now looks to able to deal again with the USA under Trump, it is the best possible situation to come from the election for the Philippines.. I also have a under lying feeling that Duterte was bracing for what many believe was going to be a major conflict with the East and he was hedging his bets on who the victor would be...

Mr. Duterte is just like that fly on Obamas lip. You can just see it in Obamas eyes. He is fighting with all of his being to resist what he is just dying to do. Lash out with a forked tongue grab and quickly devour Mr. Duterte right off his lip
