Oakland Mayor Explains Why Local Police Can't Stop Looting Rioters

Moments ago, Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf sent out the following letter to local business owners, many of whom were battered during the latest anti-Trump riots since Trump's presidential victory, which unlike peaceful protests in other cities, "ended in harm being done to our business community and the rest of Oakland." As a result "graffiti and broken windows were left behind by a group of anarchists who continually invade these otherwise peaceful protests with the intention of doing nothing but causing destruction."

The reason is that "the police who are responsible for the safety of the crowds and our community during these protests are very often the target themselves. When they step in to stop an act of vandalism while it is happening, they become the new focal point for the crowds which can lead to an escalation of violence, not a decrease in the vandalism. This is the very difficult set of circumstances we are dealing with."

So basically, when the police show up they then become the target. I think that things in Oakland will only get worse tonight. Knowing that the police will not intervene can do nothing but embolden these "protesters" who are so upset about Trump winning that they are tearing up their own city.

The police there cannot do their job for fear of being plastered on the TV as a racist cop when the mob inevitable turns on them. I haven't had many pleasant experiences with cops, so I try my best to stay away from them and not give them a reason to even look my way, but seriously law enforcement has a tough job, made all the much tougher by a biased liberal media.

Well we couldn't understand why they called in the National Guard.

The police have their hands tied by Progressive Politicians and the MSM.

This idiot is making excuses so that the violence and hate does nothing more than continue till it brings the country to it's knees. In other words, he is making excuses because in his pathetic political views it helps to continue and amp up the division that keep us fighting while ignoring the crimes of the government responsible?

Obama's legacy won't be the AHA, it will be the division he engineered thru race, gender, and religion! That will be his legacy in the history books that will in the future paint the destruction of this country.

Maybe one day soon, police and citizens alike will be allowed to use deadly force to protect property. Worked pretty well for the Koreans during the Rodney King riots. These thugs need to be shot on sight.

Back in the 1960`s when those dirty hippies would get out of control the government would call in the national guard,put curfews in place,tear gas and police dogs,fire hoses.

If the mayor keeps letting the looters and rioters destroy businesses those businesses will move out of Oakland,oakland will be another Chicago.

If I were the Mayor and a police officer was over come by the crowd, I would fire them if they weren't surrounded by wounded radicals. The law must be maintained, reguardles of polical affiliation.

She is a democrat mayor, engineering this fake crisis on purpose, probably hoping this becomes violent enough to restore "Dear Leader Hillary" to the Presidency.

Its seems funny to me that they wont protect their citizens property but when they have a G-8 summit with some out of town elites they are out en mass.

If this Mayor Cannot do his Job at Keeping the Peace in his City , he should Resign ASAP . The LAW Will have some Teeth now that we have a President that will not put up with this come Jan. 2017 .

I think the solution is simple.

Kill them if they pose a threat to the cops.

If they obey, be cool.

This shait is going to get old real quick.

Run them over, shoot them, set them on fire, what ever. They are NOT peaceful.

Cops cant keep the peace? Then national guard.

Seriously? The Millenials here in the U.K have struggled to come to terms with Brexit, even though it is run by the Bilderbergs.

I do live in a state (thank God) where the people take pride in being as self sufficient as they can.

I remember when Katrina happened there were armed store owners on their roof personally protecting their own property. It seems the residents of Oakland will be forced to do the same or watch their businesses get burned and looted.

Seems like they have no problem using dogs, tear gas and rubber bullets on the Dakota indians. As well as locking up journalists that dare to cover it. Some idiots protesting the results of an election should get far worse than what they are giving the indians who just want to be left alone.

And with these police departments having all the surplus military gear they do (another bit of Obamas legacy there) you can't tell me they aren't itching to use it.

As a staunch liberal, I strongly believe that this is a great opportunity to raise taxes on those business owners so that the city can pay for those protesters' missed time from work due to protesting. And their meals and housing, too. After all, as a staunch liberal, I strongly believe that those people have the right to protest so they don't have to work. Because work used to be racist. It still is but now it's misogynistic.
