How is that a problem, It's not , the problem is the long standing attitude is this is a "White" nation and others are merely guest, how many time have I heard the phrase ...well if you don't like it, meaning something one may find offensive take your ass back to..Africa!, when in fact the majority of non whites arrived at roughly the same time as Europeans, some even arrived thousands of yrs earlier to be considered true natives and have left considerable contribution in every sphere, from slave to soldiers, scientist and inventors.

I have never been poor really, and I have dumped the Dems for the most part I am looking at the Greens, I am accustom to firing weapons (ex military) but feel no need to have one on my person or in my house.

Because if its to unite people than you need to change the current strategy of the Minority communities and the Democrat party that loves to cry wolf and throw the racist card every time a disagreement or even murder occurs that is a White against Black Crime. Sometimes people are just Aholes.

Most People don't like being a victim or a Villian and that is what the Democrats and MSM are doing to get the minority vote and sell ads without a care for the consequences of those actions.

You want to unite people than don't do like the democrats and MSM is doing and put people in a group of victims and the other in a group of villians , that only encourages hate ,intolerance, and anger towards each other.

Yes. Change in America comes from outside pressure. Ideally, the pressure must not align itself to one party or leader.

Obama was a community organizer from the corporate wing of the Democratic Party. He saw himself as another "Ronald Reagan", and I did not like some of his views, as they came straight out of the Heritage Foundation, founded by what used to be far right wing but are now mainstream (showing how skewed the nation's politics have gone rightward).

I laughed when he was elected and people believed he was marxist or a throwback to the far left. He was far from it. His being a community organizer, I think Obama expected his voters to rally around him.... putting pressure from the outside. They did not. The "left" has not been organized since the 1960-70s.

The right became organized by the Republican Party starting in the late 1970s, leading to the election of Ronald Reagan. The GOP organized through an existing organization, churches, giving it a ready made voting base to start with, through which they could distribute "voter guides", telling their base for whom to vote. The base need not become politically knowledgeable, just go mark ballots, urged by cultural wedge issues to make sure they went to the polls. To go along with direct church organizing, there were quasi church organizations (Focus on Family, family values orgs, etc) to turn out voters. The GOP did tell conservative Christians in the 1980s to run for local offices and work from the ground up. That is what turned America rightward, but in the 1990s the right began to eat its own, as the GOP began rooting out people who were not "conservative enough", the RINOs. The Tea Party.... the GOP took over that movement, firmly making it another organizing tool, a voter base.

As more and more conservatives became RINOs, the party went further to the right, until today everyone to the left of the extreme right is labeled "liberal". What represents the GOP nowadays is their extremist (paranoid John Birch Society, and white nationalist, and economic Libertarians) far right conservative members. Every other Republican, no matter what other conservative bona fides, is no longer "conservative enough". GOP leadership has even caved to the alt-right voice, as they once caved to Rush Limbaugh and Fox News.

Bernie Sanders or Liz Warren could never, ever have been chosen to run against the Rep Party machine. Hillary was their only chance, and even though she now has more citizens backing her, she lost. Look, it is a fantasy to think that a 75 year old Jewish Dem Socialist or a progressive former Republican woman would have ever had a greater chance against the far right political machine. Politics is dirty, and the Reps are masters at it.

No, Bernie Sanders and Liz Warren knew they needed to remain in Congress (where legislation is made) to push back extremist legislation and help elect more of them to Congress. The extreme rightward turn of the GOP is what happens when political parties take over what should stay as outside groups pushing for change.

Far left extremist groups have not been absorbed into the party; far right groups have been not just finding a home but given political power by the GOP.

We have essentially become a parliamentarian system now, with no mechanism for compromise, which means that there must be an equal force pushback to counter this extreme rightward drift. This will be more difficult with extremist right wing in control of all three branches, but it is not impossible. The results of the ugliness of the recent campaign must now be adamantly, forcefully pushed back.

So, the Great Pushback must happen. The Bernie Revolution must continue. The change must occur from the ground up, but also include electing members to Congress who will push back against far right legislation.

I've grown so weary of the "dog whistle" claims. I cannot recall the ATS member by name, but I remember a wonderful thread created about this "phenomenon."

Claiming "dog whistle" status quite literally means any individual can make an unsubstantiated claim that Statement A really means X or Y

The beautiful thing about it is, like I said, by calling it a "dog whistle" the person making the accusation needs to provide NO evidence, anecdotally or otherwise, to support their claim. Only they can see what is really being said.

The 'dog whistle' claims have been one of the big tricks to control others. Make up reality and then attack to silence and marginalise others. It failed miserably on Tuesday - at last. Let's hope the practice now dies out.

The new normal is NO minorities. Just haves and have-nots. The sooner people start accepting that reality and start letting go of the old paradigms, the better off we will all be. Honestly these little dramas have us all chasing shadows.

I agree you with you about the message of make America white again as the country is now browner then it has ever been and his message about expelling illegal immigrants, his rhetoric towards blacks, the fact he has Giuliani in his camp with the whole stop and frisk thing. I think it will be ok but it looks a bit unpredictable. You can't ask people to stop thinking themselves as black or a color when there is this level of racism in history and the present day. Race was created nefariously by wicked people. Yes it is an illusion but too many people believe in it and use it unjustly. Crime and violence are symptoms of bigger problems of which race is a huge factor. When there is racism in policing as there is it does it hurts everybody. White people would be better off to address racism and try to stop it rather then deny it as so many are on this thread.

Wait a minute.... Has your media blocked out the speeches of the other leaders of the world? How come you don't have access to those?

I don't need to be an "expert" to hear what the people around me are saying! Especially since, as you can imagine, everyone wants to call up or go see the only american they know to discuss this with!

I am in school, and the whole class had a discussion period on this yesterday, because they all need to talk about it. They are scared. They are scared of what he'll do, seeing as he doesn't show a lot of impulse control, experience or knowledge , or ability to comprehend others who are different than himself (class), and he has access to enormous power to destroy.

They assume people voted for him because they support these characteristics (sexism, racism, violence, etc.) So the very obvious conclusion is that the american people value these things- these are their ideals.

(I have had some americans on this site tell me they did not perceive Trump that way, so there was not a conscious and purposeful intent to endorse and make that statement)

I am not afraid of what Trump will do, I have some trust in our system of checks and balances. Many people from other countries are not always aware of those.

But I have always found it somewhat surprising how much we underestimate the image attributed to us (the people, the citizens) based upon our leader and our military!

But anyway... I get the message that you are actually being sarcastic, you do not want me to tell you what I am experiencing out here, so I will stop there.

That's pretty good advice for anyone, regardless of color, but I agree, especially on keeping the passport handy. But the group economics is especially important. I remember before BLM took over the circus and derailed the train, one of my close high school friends who was black actually suggested the best way for the black community is to protest and get the point across was to fight back with the only thing anyone in this country cares about: Money. Putting their money in black-owned banks, black owned business, investing in black entrepreneurs, not just in the U.S. but abroad. Money is the only language spoken in this country, and like my friend so wisely put "it's the language the black community needs to get fluent in".

I think these idiots wasting their time rioting should consider that instead of burning down their own homes and doing the enemy's work for him.
