I always got the impression Biden was looking to create a smoke screen before the primaries. His aim was to take some of the media attention away from Clinton who everyone knew was going to run. If the unlikely happened and Trump wins the election the recriminations on the Democratic side will be massive. Biden could well get the blame for not having opted into the race.

Biden will be ok. He will simply grab another woman inappropriately or for an awkwardly uncomfortable amount of time, sniff some hair, and go back to being creepy Joe Biden.
