It will all depend on how the East Aleppo battle turns out, IMO. If the Russians manage to free the city, Bashar al-Assad's Russia-backed forces are
likely to regain control of Syria. The so-called «moderate rebels» (moderate terrorists is more like it when you see Al-Nosra and all those psychos)
are discredited for good anyway, those who are truly «democratic and liberal» are only a faction without any influence; they've seen no problems so
far in allying with takfiris so it speaks volumes about their mentality... Those people are as defeated as ISIS without Western support.
However, I don't believe Syria will become a new Iraq with a pro-Western government and all, the difference between the 2000s and the 2010s is
Russia's come back on the international scene. Putin has huge interests there, I don't think he will even accept a border change; for whom, anyway?
Sadly Syrian Kurds are getting slaughtered between Turkey and ISIS... :-(
