Good Morning Jessie! (Howzitgaun?)

I'm loving the ornaments in that last coffee photo!! Brilliant.

Well, that may be me finished work for the holidays...
Technically I'm still working tomorrow... but we've managed to clear the boards of all the work needing done, so if nothing else comes in today.... That's me on HOLIDAY!!

I'm just back from the supermarket (doing the main Christmas food shopping)...
Ahhh, the joy of the smiles on the happy shoppers as they glide effortlessly from aisle to aisle, whistling happy tunes, winking merrily at giggling children. The festive glow already upon their faces, and joy in their hearts...

No, hang on... I think that was maybe a movie I saw once....?

Yeah, today was like armageddon in a shopping cart.
Miserable, growling, jostling, frowning.... and that was just me!
But, the deed is now all but done and the larder and fridge are full.
Only one or two tiny wee insignificant items to acquire and I'll be there.

Is it true that all of the Christmas drinks need testing in advance?
You know... to make sure that they're OK for everyone to have on Christmas Day?
I suspect that I may be doing a fair bit of "testing" over the next few days (It's better to be safe than sorry, right?)

The weather is turning REALLY BAD here now. We've got Storm Barbera coming in tonight and she's in a VERY bad mood!
It's already freezing cold, with high winds and hailstones, we had thunder and lightning first thing this morning and Babs is still a good few hours away.....

I hope everyone else is having a nicer day!

Hi Guys!
Ive been real sick, and had to work some long shifts in freezing cold, cuz no one could cover for me. The plant manager finally let me shut down the steel mill today and go home 6 hours early. Im off until next year, and finally got some good sleep today. I had wonton soup tonight and am going to be ok now. My lungs and head congestion is clearing.

I hope you are all well, and I wish you a Great Christmas!

I hope you're going better, Vis!

Colds suck. I hope you're feeling better?

Simple cooking and Christmas just don't mix together!

Here is my Rum Cake recipe...I've never actually made a Rum cake completely BUT I followed the recipe to a tee!?!

Christmas Rum Cake

1 Tsp. Sugar
1 or 2 Quarts of Rum
1 Cup Dried Fruit
Brown Sugar
1 Tsp. Soda
1 Cup Butter
2 Large Eggs
1 Cup Baking Powder
3 Juiced Lemons
1 Cup of Nuts

Before starting, sample rum to check quality. Good, isn't it? Now proceed.

Select large mixing bowl, measuring cup, etc.

Check rum again. It must be just right. To be sure rum is of proper quality, pour one level cup of rum into a glass and drink it as fast as you can. Repeat.

With electric mixer, beat 1 cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.

Add 1 seaspoon of thusar and beat again.

Meanwhile, make sure rum is still alrighty. Try another cup. Open second quart if necessary.

Add leggs, 2 cups of fried druit and beat til high. If druit gets stuck in beaters, pry loose with drewscriber.

Sample rum again, checking for tonscisticity.

Next, sift 3 cups pepper or salt (really doesn't matter).

Sample rum.

Sift 1/2 pint lemon juice. Fold in chopped butter and strained nuts. Add 1 bablespoon of brown sugar-or whatever color you can find. Wix mell. Grease oven. Turn cake pan to 350 gredees. Pour mess into boven and ake.

Check run again and bo to ged.
