I think Obama knew that Hillary used a private server, which in and of itself was not illegal. What I don't think Obama knew, was that the Clinton's server was not being monitored or backed to a .gov server, which IS the law, by the NSA or the Secret Service or whatever IT department should have been the responsible overseer.

We'll never really know for sure what he knew. We can be pretty darned sure Hillary knew she was doing the wrong thing and is lying about it.

It would be helpful to see those 18 emails between the two of them that they won't release for some reason...I wonder what they are hiding there?

Yeah..that makes sense. Personally, I think the entire Server saga is nowhere near as bad as how Hillary lies in public, to the public, about her tax increases. THAT LIE will increase everyone's taxes immensely.
