Hi Folks.

Ok, this is from RT so I am expecting "some" people here to come out with the usual stuff about Russian propaganda... but you are free to make your own mind up.

I would also like to kindly ask that posters do not try and bring the 2 US electoral candidates names and actions into this thread out of respect for this topic please.

To me personally, this is another extremely sickening and saddening face of the war that many people are sitting down with their bowl of popcorn on an evening to gloat over and do not think about :
RT meets Aleppo cancer kids denied aid, food due to EU & US sanctions against Assad

No life-saving drugs, necessary equipment, or chance of survival – RT’s Murad Gazdiev visited children in an Aleppo hospital who are suffering from cancer – some treatable – but vital medicine can’t reach them due to EU and US sanctions.

Dozens of young cancer sufferers gathered at Cancer Care Syria, a small organization which helps cancer patients. Since the EU and US imposed sanctions on Syrian President Bashar Assad, some of these children have almost lost all hope for recovery. The sanctions, which target the Syrian regime and its supporters, have deeply affected the economy, including the health care sector.

The center helps children with forms of cancer that can be easily treated with western medicine. Three-year-old Waffa could have had her eye cancer cured, but the sanctions made the medicine unavailable, and she had to have her eye amputated. On top of that, the only hospital in Aleppo that specialized in cancer was taken by rebels and destroyed in fighting.

Waffa had to live with an empty eye socket for almost a year until Cancer Care Syria managed to collect enough money to buy her a prosthetic eye.

The girl’s mother told RT that this new eye has brought back hope for a normal life “She said, ‘look at me, I have my second eye! Now nobody will stare at me strangely,” the woman said.

The full story can be found here : www.rt.com...

So sad and their is nothing that us commoner gardener people can do about it.

Positive thoughts to those kids...

They have not , and will never learn that these sanctions only hit those most vulnerable.

Remember Iraq ?

www.theguardian.com...

www.nytimes.com...

Just another military strategy , if you cannot bomb them , starve them or block them acces to neccesary health care.

what russia doesn't have food and drugs that they can bring in, aren't they the saviors and thumb their noses at the west?
how come they don't help, surly with being a world power the responsibility of providing humanitarian aid comes with it.

Just another effect of unnecessary war.

It's not about realizing that sanctions affect the most vulnerable, it's about realizing that these wars are pointless, and that nothing good comes from them, even if the regimes against whom we are fighting advocate horrendous things.

That area of the world thrives on perpetual intra-Middle-East conflict, and has since the days of the Bible. Nothing the Western World does will affect anything for very long, and even less of it will be a positive change for the average civilian in those areas.

You might want to do some homework Hounddog :

Russian aid reaches Aleppo

Following heavy airstrikes, which killed 90 people, reportedly involving Russian jets, Russian humanitarian aid is being distributed in parts of Aleppo.

Large queues formed near Russian military vehicles in al-Ashrafieh neighbourhood.

Colonel Richtov, a representative of the Russian Reconciliation Centre said: “The kits, distributed to citizens, include canned fish and meat, flour, rice and sugar. They have also been distributed to those who exited eastern Aleppo via humanitarian passages.”

Link here : www.euronews.com...

And this dating back from August :

Russian medical aid delivered to Aleppo University Hospital

The representative of the Hmeimim-based Russian Coordination Center pointed out in a statement that the aid consists of a ton of medical aid that includes medicines, emergency medical supplies, antibiotics and medical products for the treatment of a variety of diseases.

He added that the distribution process of the humanitarian and medical aid is continuous and aims at alleviating the suffering of the affected families due to the terrorist attacks and helping medical establishments to continue offering services to the patients.

Don't just take our Western MSM as serious news is all I can suggest.

Syrian Docs w/o Borders

If you took the time to read through that link that you posted you would have found the answer to your question Sungod :

Not only are MSF (Médécines sans frontièrs) a NGO relying on public independant funding (which they are lacking of to carry out their missions correctly)

But this too :

MSF supports eight hospitals in eastern Aleppo. The organization runs six medical facilities across northern Syria and supports more than 150 health centers and hospitals across the country, many of them in besieged areas.

In besieged eastern Aleppo, where the few remaining hospitals are already overwhelmed by huge numbers of wounded patients, even reaching health facilities is now a deadly gamble. Repeated attacks on emergency responders and first-aid providers have left the region's ambulance services in shambles, with just 11 working ambulances remaining for a population of 250,000 people.

More here : www.doctorswithoutborders.org...

"Not only have hospitals been hit at least 23 times since the siege started in July, but ambulances that transport the wounded are being hit too," said Carlos Francisco, MSF head of mission for Syria. "And only today a health clinic in eastern Aleppo supported by MSF was also damaged by bombing. It’s a reminder of how the rules of war are continuously being violated in Syria."

More info here : www.doctorswithoutborders.org...

They are there but cannot be everywhere at once... all medical staff with MSF are volunteers.

The title of the thread was a copy paste from the original article in the link provided.

If you read my post Hounddog you would have noticed that I clearly stated that this was from August.

Maybe things have changed in nearly 2 months (for me I personally think so... taking into account the recent build up of combat in the area)

I am sure I heard on the radio today that the Russians have prolongated their ceasefire today in order to open up a humanitarian corridor? (I will try and find a snippet on the web if I can)

ETA : Yep, found this by the Washington post (so no bias) :

Russia: Halt of airstrikes on Aleppo to continue

BEIRUT — The Russian military said Tuesday the halt of Russian and Syrian air strikes, now in its seventh day, on besieged eastern parts of the city of Aleppo will continue and humanitarian corridors will remain open even as the Syrian army has unleashed a new offensive on the rebel-held neighborhoods.

Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi of the military’s General Staff said Tuesday that Russian and Syrian warplanes have stayed 10 kilometers (6 miles) away from Aleppo for a week. He said that “the moratorium on Russian and Syrian air strikes on the city will be extended.”

Now lets get back to hoping that those kids might just get the help they need huh?

no the article in the OP is from Oct 25th.
the links in the reply to me, first one dated Sept 19, and Aug30, now you know that the reports just didn't happen on the same day, as they are using a past tense in describing what is taking place.

rt is a lying propaganda rag run by the russian govement. everything they report is suspect, especially when they report anything about the U.S.

so seeing that the OP is a bold face lie, thread should be in the hoax bin

Sorry Hounddog but I think there is a misunderstanding here as I was referring to your post with the red quote found again below at 07:13 :

He added that the distribution process of the humanitarian and medical aid is continuous and aims at alleviating the suffering of the affected families due to the terrorist attacks and helping medical establishments to continue offering services to the patients.

That article was from this link : en.mehrnews.com...

If you look at that link you will see underneath the picture of the aircraft that the article was written Tuesday 30th of August.

Anyways, lets not bicker about trivial dates, we all have our own opinions and we know that all sides (whether Russian, US or EU) will churn out propaganda to meet the peoples needs...

I respect your opinion as I hope you will also respect mine in sending out positive thoughts to the innocents who are being slaughtered because of greed and power hungry politicians on ALL sides.

Have a good day.

But they were treating him, what changed specifically in the situation? We can guess all day, but I want to know what specifically happened because this is nuts and not right. The whole thing isn't really, but we a talking about this one thing.

Civilian areas in Aleppo are constantly shelled and bombed by terrorists of various groups supported by the EU and the US.
Meanwhile Russian bombers and cruise missiles hit peripheral area buildings where the militant terrorists keep their western-made weapon stockpiles and other logistic support storage areas.

well they are getting it from Russia.

As far as EU/US help...if Syria is under sanctions...(i dont know if it is)...then I guess US/EU is not sending help...so the title isnt a lie. it's just that Russia isnt on board with these sanctions.

If US/EU are sending aid...only then it is a lie. In that respect...I dont know if they are sending any...
