Battle For Mosul Begins Oct. 16, 2016 Documenting Now

An update on the situation today from a Spanish language embed. Mostly a handful of skirmishes and firefights between armored convoys, and an AH-6 does shoot some missiles at a target as well.

Iraqi forces parading a dead daesh fighter on the end of a turret of an Abrams tank. This is likely in or around the Mosul area, not specified in video, but we can assume with high likelihood that's where this is because that's where these two factions would have crossed paths.

This tweet alleges Turkish point of origin for some ISIS hidden explosives, but that is yet to be proven or corroborated with additional reports.

US Air Forces attack Iraqi Army under Mosul

US Air Forces have attacked the positions of one of the divisions of the Iraqi government forces. During this incident 90 Iraqi soldiers were killed and more than 100 were injured. Moreover, the number of the dead could rise. In addition, some soldiers of divisions were captured by ISIS terrorists.

The military equipment belonging to the Iraqi government forces were also damaged.

The Iraqi Armies had to retreat from their positions.

The same case was reported some days ago to be only with a smaller number of victims. Some experts think that the US deliberately is destroying Iraq's elite units of the government armed forces, in order to expand its influence on the Kurdish zone, which is largely controlled by the United States.

Most oil fields are located in the south and south-east of Iraq. A great part of them is on the territory of the autonomy of Iraqi Kurdistan. However, all pipelines are (both existing and planned) passing through this territory, obeying Baghdad, but Erbil pretends to.

Moreover, US Air Forces have made such a bloody mistake before in Syria. There was only one difference, that the United States didn’t hide the negative attitude to the government forces in Syria and their support for Kurdish groups.

MSM covers very little on the Mosul front. They would do sporadic daily updates in the first two weeks, then they seemed to have lost interest afterwards. An occasional blip shows up from week to week.

After violence forced Bushra and her family to flee their home in Mosul, they traveled to Erbil, Baghdad, and eventually settled in Nahrawan IDP camp. Irai forces continue their advance into Eastern Mosul. This group here seem to be equipped with French bull-pup rifles. they appear to be French rifles to me, but I could be wrong.
