Definitely get involved. Like I tell my friends (who also won't get involved): Protesting changes nothing. It's simply begging the same corrupt people in power to do something good. If they were reliable in that regard, we wouldn't have to protest them in the first place. We need good hearted people in every office place and on every committee, even if just to serve as a voice of reason that can stop some of the worse policy developments.

One reason I'm currently against many otherwise progressive positions like campaign finance reform & publicly funded elections is because our current politicians would be writing that legislation. Just as many of the maryjane "legalization" legislation is actually written in the form of a poison pill, I suspect they'd change the campaign finance rules so that they'd both exclude 3rd parties and actually benefit themselves. Simple additions like "You must receive X amount of the vote to qualify" would turn those laws into taxpayer funded subsidies for the major parties.

One new politician or official will probably get corrupted or marginalized. But a wave of new ones with similar mindsets would be more likely to change the system as a whole. Hence why we'd need to be organized and have our own "playbooks" to work from. Whether people want to admit it or not, the Democratic Party and Republican Party may be the best organized and most powerful political parties in the world (other than maybe China's Communist Party). A counter culture of complaining won't be enough to take them down.

For what it's worth, some of my friends and I have been looking into starting more Green Party branches out here. The logistics are daunting, so we may shift instead to starting a lobbying firm or something similar. The sad reality is that a lot of people enjoy the system as it is and don't really care for politics on any level. They only tend to care when specific policies directly affect themselves or the people they agree with.

There is a de facto media blackout in the States on Jill Stein. When one sees Stein and Clinton together, Stein is the clear choice, and that is why we never see them together. And that is why the media give Stein almost no coverage since the media are a part and parcel of the political establishment, so they have a vested interest in promoting Clinton to the exclusion of all alternatives.

I can see Jill Stein being a problem for many conservative women. She is further left than Hillary and many of her views are unpalatable.

Women should just listen to their men-folk and vote for who the man says they should vote for.

Then hustle their pretty little selves back to the kitchen for supper!

Seriously?

People should vote for whom they want. It shouldn't matter why. No one has to justify their vote to anyone.

I would agree with you, IF not only was the media not propaganda and actually informed people and held the government accountable, but also if the system itself wasn't set up by the establishment and gatekeepers to keep it from being a free, fair, and open election system.

You can't believe that there is both widespread propaganda AND also think that people's voting choices or beliefs are all equally valid or agentic.

You wouldn't be voting lesser of the two evils she's an actual human I assume with morals. She's also a humanitarian and animal rights advocate and got in a little trouble protesting a some multimillion dollar corporation

The corporate powered parties are not gonna do it for us, not the greater of the lesser evil. We have to do it ourselves. And the minute we stand up and stand together, we are unstoppable

- Dr. Jill Stein

I believe her, our country would be so much better, it would set a huge precedent. It would literally go down in history as like the next step in evolution. Setting off a massive subconscious force reaching every American. If not the entire world.

They knew not to let a 3rd party candidate get any spotlight at the presidential debates because the same corporations that own these politicians, also own the news corporations.

Why do the same people who hate trump so much not say anything when the DNC were rigging the nominations, many people would've vote Bernie over trump, they made their own bed

Now they say oh I'm voting Hillary because Trump triggers me and I just can't vote for trump I dont think he respects women and he said a lot of mean stuff. So why don't you vote for Jill stein?

I could be wrong but a lot of people on board with trump would also slide to Jills side if we weren't so afraid of corrupt Hillary supporters, could be wrong

Some sympathy there since the very few debates precluded anyone with less than 15% in the polls, so she was obviously out of it, then and now.
Arguably then, it's not just women but also men.
The other thing is the hubris of what is a given in any political party requires them to be miles ahead of all the rest, and in some areas I don't think they are.

This is because she and the Green Party itself actually address not just the corruption in our political system but also our global environmental issues, racism, economic exploitation and inequality, and our horrific foreign policies. No other party addresses ALL of these issues. And, the establishment doesn't want a candidate or party that actually is trying to address all of these issues.

My opinion is that our votes don't really count and they don't matter. Our system is too corrupt and entrenched.

But that's just my opinion.

I don't think anyone has the right to tell anyone else what to think and what to do.

I agree with your statements. There is a difference between "telling someone how to vote" versus assessing correctly that a large proportion of the population is severely mis-informed due to the manipulation of mass information, not to mention education.

It is a never good to equate all opinions or choices as equal, given a choice between informed versus not. A lot of people simply are ignorant on a whole list of topics.

And, because other people's votes affect me, I DO have a right to judge those choices. Any choice that affects me I have a right to talk about. That's true for everyone.

Didn't say you couldn't judge.

But like someone said on ATS. . . .

"If a person agrees with another 100%, then one of them isn't doing any thinking."

If people want to vote for Hillary, then they should have the freedom to do so. I will reserve the right to call them names. But I'd never tell them NOT to vote for her.

Really? I'm sure there are highly skilled people in the field of economics who Jill could hire

What will these corporate politicians do for you? News flash the crooks you keep voting for have America 19 trillion in debt and on the brink of both moral and financial bankruptcy.

And at the same time they spend your taxes on whatever they damn well please.

I was also thinking it wouldn't count, but im having second thoughts because why not just let Hillary sither away into the shadows and ease on in. Why do they keep deliberately spinning for her

The only thing our votes do, is offer suggestions.

A good question. To make a simplistic contrast, assuming that the system is as corrupt as we think it is:

1) System is TRULY rigged, as in they have show elections and then voting is rigged and/or fake numbers produced. In this case, why do they have such a huge show, including spinning for the candidate of case? Is it because they have to make sure that people believe that this is all legit, or they have to make sure that a majority of people will accept the "rigged" results?

2) System is not "rigged" in the sense of fudging voting numbers or throwing them out all together. Votes are counted, but the system is "rigged" by virtual media control by the oligarchy and military-industrial complex, and control of most high level politicians and leaders. The rigging takes place through control of information and functionally brainwashing people. This view would explain the constant spin and shilling by the media.
