No, they won't. Attempting to ban belief merely drives it underground. The history of your own religion should tell you that.

They will ban preaching worldwide. They will murder or imprison all religious persons with authority. The Vatican will be no more. Temples will be no more. Mosques will be no more.

Good luck with banning preaching. Many totalitarian systems have tried. ...and failed, utterly, in the attempt. The Vatican is merely a place. It isn't Roman Catholicism, merely it's headquarters. You could raze it to the ground and salt the earth upon which it stood, and Roman Catholicism would still flourish. Temples/Mosques would, instead of being above ground, would be in people living rooms, basements, more importantly, in their hearts.

Governments will turn upon and ban religion for the preservation of themselves.

...and, in the process, destroy themselves. Rome tried that, and failed. Various tribes in the Middle East tried that, and failed. Religion is a part of what we are, deny though some will, it is a belief in something higher, nobler that is within us all. You can not ban that. You can not destroy that. The physical trappings? Sure. The believers? Sure, them too. But their children will still believe. Their grandkids will still believe.

As long as someone can walk into a little country chapel and feel the presence of God, or sit under a tree and feel the life of the world around you as the work of God, there will be belief. Imperishable.

I would like to see the warrior religions end like, evangelicals, catholics, muslims. That have murdered untold millions because of their particular gods. Atheists mostly want to live and let live.

I think you'll find that had there been no religion, those millions would still have died. There just would have been another excuse.

You'll also find that most believers in whichever name of god they prefer, want nothing more than to live in peace. Though I don't share the names, I too believe, and want nothing more than to be left in peace to live as I choose.

'course, it's that whole living as they choose thing that bugs so many, and has them reaching for the excuse to kill 'em all. It's not God's will the sends 'em ravening over the land slaughtering innocents, it's their own greed. Nothing so grandious as the "word of God". Merely the bling.
