It's not a disaster, it's just that you misunderstand the intent. The intent is global power, at Alonso any cost. It's not about the conditions in a given country.

Gulf of Tonkin moment. Isn't our foreign policy a complete disaster? Do they even know what they are doing?
Control of these pivot regions in the ME, control over natural gas pipelines, and reducing power and foothold of Russia and allies (Syria and Iran).
