“On October 12, starting from 11:30am, the neighborhood in Damascus where the Russian Embassy is located was subjected to mortar fire for nearly two hours from the Jobar district controlled by extremists,” an official statement from the Foreign Ministry says.

The ministry said both attacks were launched from the Jobar neighborhood, which is currently controlled by the terrorist groups Jabhat Fateh al-Sham [former Al-Nusra Front] and Failak ar-Rahman.

How convenient, Al-Nusra, aka Al Qaeda, aka Al CIA Da... and let us not forget who helped supply them per recent Wikileaks documents!

Russian Embassy Shelled for 2 hours!

This is just breaking and it is an ominous sign indeed. Fortunately there have been no casualties reported at this point and hopefully it stays that way. This should not be surprising though, we have been given hints at what our next approach will be in order to defend our favored mercenaries, for example one must not forget the insane rhetoric that one Mike Morell (former deputy director of the CIA) displayed on the Charlie Rose show...

I can not remember a time ever when the intelligence agencies of the west have been so brazen and belligerent, candidly exposing their modus operandi.

This psychopath was on television declaring that we need to terrorize the Syrians, Russians, and Iranians. Actually advocating this lunacy, on TV!

This man should be jailed immediately.

Not to mention what has happened since this he openly discussed being behind such acts...

Putin's chauffeur murdered in head on accident.

The BMW 7-Series was the official property of the Federation Council, also known as the Upper Chamber of Parliament or Russian Senate.

Then America attacked the Syrian army for over an hour...'accidentally"

According to the information received from Syrian control, the air bombing killed 80 Syrian soldiers and wounded another 100.

And we also have have the initial attack on the Russian embassy earlier in the month.

One mortar landed near the residential compound and two more by the embassy building, the ministry said, adding that no one was harmed. It blamed the shelling on two rebel groups, including al Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria formerly known as the Nusra Front, but also claimed the attack was the result of a U.S. policy and that of its allies, which “provokes further bloodshed in Syria.”

All of these events have come after Mike Morell's call for such things to happen as well as John Kirby's threatening tone from the State Department podium. Americans need to understand the hubris of such actions. It is no wonder that the Russians are prepping for war in the fashion that they are.

Our intelligence agencies and foreign policy leaders apparently have some kind of lust for global destruction, how else can you describe such dangerous arrogance?

I am not exactly sure what is going on, it was breaking news from RT and now the story is no longer there?

Thank you for politely pointing it out!

No problem!

RT has been rather "strange" lately.

That opening paragraph is from an official statement of the Foreign Ministry, I am unable to find any other info on this, I am trying to wrap my head around why it would be breaking news and then they would immediately remove it.

I shall continue to search for more information, either way, the events listed that happened leading up to this possible event, are still imho a result of Morell's threat.

Thank you kindly Gin!

I felt as though I was experiencing the mandela effect for the first time!

You know RedMenace, you should take some time to work on your tactfulness, there is no reason to respond so aggressively without the patience of checking the information.

Perhaps be a little less menacing!

Is there a reason why you always treat state propaganda from Russia at face value? Before you then start trying to berate me and before you say any such rubbish that their state propaganda outlet is the only one telling the truth if only the 'sheeple' (yawn) would listen, why are you so stuck on defending Russia?

Of course I may be missing the point and you are actually Russian and based in Russia - hopefully if that is the case you will be honest enough to say so.

What ever happened to taking the high road?

When I hear people like that Mike Morell speak the way he did, I always get that horrible feeling... Face value, officially we Westerners love to act all high and mighty, then people like this come out of the woodwork and gives a revealing glimpse of the morality behind closed doors.

Sickening really, I laughed when he said "I'm not advocating assassinating him" I mean, haha. No you just advocate destroying what he holds dear and basically unofficially declaring war on him. On a personal level that's basically harassment, on a national level it's breaking the Geneva Conventions.

Why do we even insist on having a moral high ground?

Just so we are clear, there is a vast difference between the neighbourhood which contains the Russian Embassy being shelled for two hours, and the Embassy itself being shelled for two hours.

To clarify, if the Embassy itself had been shelled for two straight hours by anyone remotely competent to do so, there simply would not BE an Embassy anymore. The neighbourhood being struck by shelling... different story altogether.

To me it just seems like pot shots, certainly no indication of a heavy barrage or constant bombardment.

The report only mentions a few shells landing, no reported injuries or death. There wouldn't be a neighbourhood or lack of injury if the shelling was remotely heavy or targeted.

A few shots per hour?

So no projectiles hit the embassy or embassy controlled property, in either "attack".

ooook....

ETA - I see im not the only one who noticed the difference.

Well let me attempt to answer your questions, but first I do not really ever engaging in a conversation with you about Syria, so do correct me if I am wrong but remind me of a time when I have "berated" you.

In this particular instance of a Russia Embassy being attacked in Damascus, it only makes sense that their media would be the first to be reporting it. It would be like saying that America's embassy in any country would not first be reported by our western media.

I have never claimed that RT is not owned by the Russian government of this I am quite aware and try not to use them as a source due because of this, yet as I said, these events are breaking and it is their embassy.

To answer you question of why I take this at face value, I honestly thought my OP made that clear with the whole Mike Morell declaring that these are the kinds of things that he would like to see happen.

As far as my nation of origin, I am born and bred right here in the gold old US of A and in my lifetime I have researched the elite of this world who have made this country into their military arm hence my sharp criticism of the war machine my taxes fund.

I speak with friends from Aleppo and am aware of what the Syrian people say about what is happening and to them Russia is there defending their families and their countries from a horrific force of mercenaries armed, trained, and funded by the west through their puppet governments, like Saudi and Qatar.

No propaganda needed their just actual experience.

The issue is the Russian Embassy never came under attack though. Even RT admits this in their article.

Aye thank you to the both of you.

The title is an exaggeration, as it was not actually hit by the shells.

It does seem to fit the strategy of "scaring" the Russians as recommended by Mike Morell, good catch though, I should have read more carefully!

Exactly. This was not two hours of shelling, but individual, sparse, ineffectual incidents of shelling, that occurred over a two hour period. Calling this a two hour shelling event, would be like saying that two gangland assassinations over a period of three hours is a rampage. It simply is not accurate.

Ah, I see. Thanks for that. No, you haven't berated me in the past, but I have seen your comments to others who do not take RT at face value. Regarding my other comments, you've started more than one thread telling how the 'Western Media' is lying about Syria, quoting RT as the source. Of course, if the 'Western Media' said the same thing about Russia, you would accuse them of lying. Just wondered if there was a reason you thought one had more integrity than the other.

BTW, 'here' for you isn't 'here' for me.
