The Practice of Brahmacharya guide for overcoming lust has good tips in it not found in Christian guides. You probably didn't even bother to read that guide, just attacked it because I think you are just afraid of overcoming your degraded state.

Seems like a very pessimistic way of viewing life and one of God's greatest creations, IMHO.

I am a sculpture and I have a variety of VERY sharp scalpuls and knives. I even have dull rusty ones....

So I volunteer to castrate this prophet person .....all he needs to do is show up and sign a consent form!

ATTACK????? Are you paranoid? All I did was ask how you mesh two unlike religions to fit your theory. They do not fit. I did not read it in detail. However, I skimmed it, or parts of it.
Read your original post. Look up your references in the Bible. Read the stuff in front and behind it. Get the context. Every Christian man is not being told to castrate themselves.

I think that Jesus meant that if you really want to live for God (be a "Christian"), you will not be living for the flesh (sex and money and drugs, a.k.a., mammon).

Monks (and nuns) are essentially eunuchs because they have renounced sex. Anyone who is sexually pure (only having sex with a spouse, and in moderation) would probably fit the bill. Most people in modern society are constantly after sex (and money), and they rarely think of God or Jesus. Sex and money has become their god, and it is almost everyone's god.

I would be a hypocrite to say I am pure. It is very difficult for many. I admire people who are not slaves to lust.

This just spreads the idea in Christianity that women are less important than men. What is so evil about sex? Sure, I can understand the "not coveting your neighbours wife" and all that anti-premarital sex, but if a man and woman are married, what is wrong with sex? You are trying to find other methods of reproducing (cloning and IVF), but there are major ethical dilemnas in that too (at least for some christians). Jesus kept away from those "mammalian acts"? I have news for you. Whatever you believe, Jesus was (in physical form) a man. A human. He ate, used the toilet, he could die, he breathed. If God made humans with reproductive systems, it was with a reason. I doubt He meant for humanity to go thousands of years propagation by sex suddenly for us to change to cloning or IVF exclusively. I don't see the use of God testing (at least according to Christian beliefs) humanity's control of such emotions as lust and then telling us to just chop off the reason that this lust exists. Where is the test?
As for a vow of celibacy...that is just silly. How does it make you more pure to not get married and have sex and children? All this was just crap the church put out to help along their beliefs of "woman is evil". Even the Original sin concept and the story of Adam and Eve. It's all Eve's fault, huh?
As for becoming a hermit? That is an even more ridiculous idea. One of the main reasons for religion is to help humans with morals and such. How can religion be a help if it tells you to leave the real world and go live alone? Again, where is the testing if all the tests (interactions with other people) have been removed? How are you making a difference in the world if you can't spread your (supposedly correct) christian beliefs?

Greetings! I'm assuming that this thread was branched off what may have been the original, generated from the 01/21/05 Associated Press article about the man who "castrated himself to lower his libido".

Firstly, let me say that I'm overwhelmed at the geographical extent of coverage of that event! And if I'd any idea it would create such a stir, I would've been less impulsive and taken steps to avoid the complication(s) that required me to call 911 for assistance, or found a way to get myself to the hospital myself.

Some of the comments, out of what seems like HUNDREDS, that I've actually read on parallel threads, are quite amusing! Looking back now, on the events which led up to me carrying out that fateful "operation", even I can find the humor in it. And it's interesting, with my "new perspective" on things in general, to witness the reactions from "regular" people.

Believe me; I cogitated for WEEKS the possible consequences, good AND bad, prior to deciding, on that Monday night: "I'm NOT doing ANYthing else, until I do THIS". I was absolutely FED UP! Granted, I'd had a few drinks at the bar where I visit fellow "computer junkies". AND I was pissed off at myself for unintentionally upsetting a VERY nice lady, who works her tush off there as a cocktail waitress, just trying in my own clumsy way, to compliment her. One would think that a guy, by the age of 50, would've developed the ability to convey genuine feelings of concern and admiration for an obvious one-in-a-million young lady (half my age), without making her uncomfortable!

By then, I'd just had enough of doing that to people, when my intentions and desires were the opposite! So, I decided then and there, that I was going to DO what I'd been contemplating, thus ridding me of the overwhelming urges that make a virtual idiot out of me usually at the worst possible times, once and for the rest of my life! Simple as that!

The claims that I'd obtained information on how to do it from the internet are false. I MAY have mentioned (jokingly) to the police in all the confusion after they finally arrived, that I'd THOUGHT of trying to find out how to castrate myself, much in the same way I hear of so many people trying to find out how to do some of the simplest (and ridiculous) things.

However, I had discovered a VERY good reference on the subject of castration on Amazon.com, written by Victor T. Cheney, titled "Castration - The Advantages and the Disadvantages", LONG before deciding that I wanted to do it. His book is VERY good at explaining how testosterone influences SO MUCH of human behaviour. It does in plain English so well that I believe it should be REQUIRED READING for parents of sons AND daughters, and maybe even as a requisite in public "Sex Education" courses.

And last but not least; anyone who choses NOT to research a subject as serious as this before making any rash decisions related to that subject, is certainly a fool. My mistake wasn't in my decision to DO it; but HOW I did it. I DID find out afterward, that a nearly step-by-step process was described in another book I have ("Gray's Anatomy"), where I'd least expected to find such information.

If ONLY I hadn't been so impulsive that night...

I don't believe in this whole casteration thing but here are a few verses.

All it is saying is it is better to cut something off than to go to hell,not to literally cut something off.

Just my thoughts - I think that in almost every religion, sex for the sake of just sex is looked down upon. The majority of people out there are not concerned with love when they meet someone, but more on how long it will take until they are going to have sex. I think most people really are not thinking spirtually at all about sex, they are simply thinking about their self and how to get that sex as quickly as possible. A lot of people have become obsessed with sex or looking at sex, just look at how many people are addicted to internet pornography (it wastes your time, potential and better things you could be doing. And most would have to agreee i think that their is nothing at all spiritual about it). Sex with out love is indeed a "beastial" act in the sense that is just like being animal and man is supposed to be something more then that. What's more important though is that the ways of the flesh are that of this earth we live on and really have nothing to do with the spiritual side of things. This however does not mean that you have to cut your balls off though. What it means is sex for just the sake of sex is a temptation just like other temptations and it is up to us whether we try to beat that temptation with is of the material or flesh and instead work toward are more spiritual sides...Icould add more but I'll stop here to see how some of you feel about this...

Your post makes a lot of sense. Personally I've always had a problem having sex with women that I didn't care about in a more meaningful way other than just physical attraction. Not for any religious reasons mind you, but because once you have sex with a woman, regardless of what she says, the prior relationship you had before the sex will never be the same again. If a man isn't willing to deal with her inevitable emotional attachment, then he should have kept it in his pants.

I found a website on cattle castration here is the link. The Elastic Band technique is the non-bloody & less violent way. I haven't tried any of the methods though.

I wouldn't recommend doing this if you don't have health insurence because if you mess up the hospital bill probably will be high.

You are sick. God gave us sex; it is not evil. Jesus never said to not have sex, and sex within marriage is ok. You are taking parts of the bible out of context. The part about the family does not mean you cant love your family, it only means you need to love Jesus more. There is more I have to say, and I hope you dont castrate yourself. I am just too tired to look it up atm lol
