SU-37 versus MiG-29

Hah, These aircraft look about the same, looks scary, looks like they could whoop some ass. Which one is actually better? If I were to take a guess, I would say that the MiG-29 is better. It is perhaps faster, and the technology it has incorporated into it is awesome. But then again, the Su-37 is awesome too. Read the below Info:

The Su-37 is by far the better plane, but the MiG-29 beats the Su-37 in looks IMHO...

Just compare the engines and maximum speed and you'll get the idea, the Su-37 also has Thrust Vectoring which greatly increased manauverability...

SU-37 by far better, so is SU-27, SU-30, SU-35

If you wanna compare the planes by when they came out then u should compare the SU-27 to the MIG-29. They were designed for different roles: MIG-29 is an interceptor while SU-27 is an air superiority fighter. But SU-27 beats the MIG-29 in most categories. In fact one of its derivatives, the SU-30MKI right now is designated as the world's most lethal fighter that is in operation

The Su-37 by far; It would easily pick up, create a firing solution, and destroy the Mig-29 in BVR. If it did come down to WVR the powerful Su-37 would most likely be all over a non-TVC Mig-29 too.

does Su-37 has "helmet mounted target designation system", look-n-shoot system?

mig-29 does.


i think its would be better to compare Su-37 to Mig-29OVT or Mig-29SMT.

That was one of my main points I was trying to get around. Another thing to think about is aerodynamics. Just becasue the max speed is better, does this mean the stability and manuverability is better than the MiG-29? I like the looks better too definantly. But, there could be some pros and cons to this aircraft. I think it is the SU-37 that has the "look and shoot" feature.

Wrong my friend. Most lethal fighter in service right now is the F-15C (v)3 AESA Eagle, and the comparison is really close.

The Flanker (and its variants) have inferior radar, weapons, and has many structural limits causing the Flanker to go down to the 7.5-8 gee regime when fully loaded (full weapons load, half full tank of gas).

And as new fighters come out, the Su-30MKI will just sink lower, fighters like the Eurofighter, Rafale, F-35, and of course, the F-22. Well, the Rafale is already in service and has already seen combat in Afghanistan, but it is only the F1 version, the F2/F3 versions of the Rafale will even be more advanced.

MiG-29 = Lightweight interceptor.

Su-27/30/33/34/35/37 = Air superiority fighter,around 2 times as big as a MiG-29 (go collect aircraft models )

There is a big difference between the two,but a Su-27/37 will win a MiG-29 in a 1v1 dogfight/BVR fight,but a MiG-29 is designed to patrol airspace and shoot enemy bombers/strike aircraft while the Su-27/37 is designed to engage head-on with other fighters.

Thats right warlord ( I do believe that is the first time I've ever typed those thee words together ). The comparison between the MiG 29 and Su - anything Flankerish is like a comparison between the F-16 and the F-15 in terms of size mission and capability.

Hockeyguy--Sorry, there is nothing that can touch the SU-37. The f-22 with a larger (planar, I think) radar, has an edge when working in tandem with AWACS. The SU-37non-production only because of cost, is vastly faster and more maneuverable than the 22. With its newer anti-rad missiles, the 22's stealth becomes pointless. As for the newer SU-30's, a RAND study found they easily gunned down all F35A comers and, I believe, anything else besides the F-22. Up close, the only thing that would save an F-22 from either a Sukhoi 30 or SU-37 would be first-fire of several short-range air-to-air. The Euro planes are good for bombing runs but cant touch a Flanker unless the Sukhoi pilot is dead or drunk.dulcebase
