You know it's getting bad,
when Jim Cantore said
on his last live broadcast,
that he has decided to evacuate
for the safety of his crew!

They just announced that they
have started closing bridges.
And I got a sinking feeling
in the pit of my stomach!
Who chooses to stay, if they can leave!

They are using adjective's
like monster, historic...
Gov. Scott said, "This storm will kill you!"

Still a category 4.
Winds are up, pressure down.
The last I heard was 940.
114 people killed so far.
108 of them in Haiti.

2:00 PM, EST
Now down to 919.

Red sprites generated above Matthew which makes this an unusual hurricane.

Spaceweather

I'll just go ahead and say because I know it's coming....HAARP!

Any who....I hope there isn't too much loss of life....this is a nasty one.

I don't know much about HAARP,
but the first thing that I thought,
was how would widespread damage
affect voting for the election?
People displaced or
staying out if state with relatives.
Polling places damaged or closed!

Could cause all kinds of problems!
How convenient?!
This is ATS after all!

the weather channel is now saying that Hurricane Matthew could become a category five this evening. How much Credence should be put in that prediction?

I don't know, but I'm a federal contracting officer and those of us that are part of a volunteer force to help with disasters (i.e. writing emergency contracts for aid and relief) were put on notice and asked if we would be able to volunteer to help.

Take it for what its worth, but they are basically asking for huge amounts of help with this one...

the storm surge forecast reminds me of what we saw in Fukushima Japan when those waves were coming miles Inland and washing away cars and buildings.

I believe Hurricane Matthew it's supposed to arrive in Florida during the night time.

I live in direct line of the storm. No one should be riding this out on the coast. I am about 45 miles west of Melbourne and they are telling us to expect 100mph gusts. NEVER had anything like this before so far inland. It is a perfect storm to reach Cat 5. If it does, this will easily be the worst disaster in US history.

For the first time ever with a hurricane I am actually afraid of what the damage will be.

Stay safe and evacuate. Looks quite serious. Cat 4 now and they say it might turn back around once you return, thinking it's safe.

An eerie sight to see...

Dramatic photo shared earlier by The National Guard: "As residents evacuate, the Florida National Guard drives in to respond to Hurricane Matthew. Always Ready, Always There!"

Thanks, first responders! Everyone please stay safe in the storm!

At least they're headed in before the storm hits this time.

It's going to be hard to surpass Katrina.

Hopefully the eye stays offshore.

About 4pm, way before tropical force or hurricane force winds begin.

Starting to pick up a bit. Hard to tell but the tree tops are definitely swaying a lot more. Track still looking like a direct hit for us.

My Son is in Aventura area, never been there but neither has he for a hurricane... he recently bought a boat and lives on that but has shacked up with a gal for this storm... they are in Fort Lauderdale area and I have been crying on and off all day just worried sick.

He is "excited" and from the pics he has sent working up quite the drunk with his Hurricane party antic's and chug a lugging attitude. He has always been a free spirit but I am a worrisome Mom...

His buddies seem to think it will be like all the other false alarms... so no sense having their wits about themselves but rather get blind drunk and pass out.

I see no storm windows? No boards up? Can I ask where this is in relation to Fort Lauderdale?

Stay safe, I am going to monitor this from the Midwest and expect to get very little rest.

This is where I am listening from, but you can find your location as well, a good link for loved ones and friends who are concerned.

Look at the size of this hurricane.
Hope people get away from the coasts in time.

There are people on barrier island off the Florida coast, in mobile homes, who do not want to evacuate.

Ike, a cat 2 at 110mph winds, crossed Galveston Island. Bolivar Peninsula which is just east of Galveston was basically wiped clean of houses along the beach front.

I wish those people would have left.
