One of my concerns about Trump's tax return that occured to me soon after it was leaked was, if he lost so much money how could he lead the lavish lifestyle he does?

I came across an interesting article:

Trump's Tax Records Show He May Have Understated His Salary by Millions to the IRS

It doesn’t seem to add up. Just one example of where Trump’s tax returns seem to conflict with reality: the Republican presidential candidate told the IRS and New York state tax officials that he collected a mere $6,108 in “wages, salaries, tips, etc.” in 1995. Yet, according to financial reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, that same year Trump received $583,333 in compensation from the then-named Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts, the company Trump had taken public in the middle of that year. The figure comes from a proxy statement that the company filed in early 1996. The payment is clearly listed as salary for 1995, and it appears to have been paid directly from the company to Trump, and not through one of the corporate entities he controls.

fortune.com...

Come on Donald. Let's see your tax returns. Ease our worried minds.

By now, with all the heat of the recent NYT article Trump STILL is not releasing his taxes one month before the election is all the proof I need that Trump is hiding something and clearly he does not want the world looking into his taxes to figure it out. Even Crooked Hillary has long released her tax returns.

'Legally' cheated.

The reason he hasn't released his tax returns is because he knew his 'legal' tax dodging would come to light, I don't think he planned on his tax information to leak so now he's blaming a broken system even though he took full advantage of it for 20 years.

If he thought it was so broken then why didn't he ever bring it up? Because he was benefiting from it. He has already admitted to paying politicians, who's to say he didn't pay for this loophole to be created? Trump is just as bad as Hillary.

I don't know, but presumably 21 years on, the same disbursement is payable. If so it should be there somewhere..in the salary/ies section.

Is it? We may never know.

Just heard on the debate that Trump made creepy Pence release his tax returns before he would choose him as VP.

Wow.

Thanks proving exactly why every lawyer advised Trump to not release his tax returns while the audit is currently ongoing.

Nobody needs a million armchair IRS agents scrutinizing and makimg connections that might give agents more ideas that might prolong their investigation.

Tax avoidance in legal. Tax evasion is not. If Trump lost millions and played by the rules and didn't pay any taxes it's still legal and I would do the same. But I do agree, it's time to release the tax records.

Trump's accountant did all the work, apparently.

I guess that puts into dispute Trump's claim of brilliance, but also any other wild allegations.

What other wild allegations?

BTW, whose signature is on the returns?

That Trump cheated. I suppose he could hire accountants to double-check his accountants, but that seems like overkill.

I'm surprised that people actually think Trump did his own tax returns! Very few business owners do their own. They just tell their accountants to do the best they can for them. Naturally, accounts already know this, and are paid handsomely for doing "the best they can".

So... is the IRS complicit in Trump's cheating? It is probably safe to assume that he was audited for the '95 returns.

So, he just signs stuff without understanding it? He's not brilliant?

I'm not sure. Did he cheat? I don't think he's brilliant personally, but campaign run sure is.

Hard to tell for sure without seeing his tax returns. There seem to be some peculiarities that could be easily resolved.

He doesn't understand what he signed?

That is his tax return, which was published illegally.

I'm not sure if he understood it or not. The guy worked for the Trump's since the 60s. Maybe he trusted him, though I'm not much of a mind reader.
