Wow, what would this look like? 40 million people??

I really don't like the building tensions between the US and Russia. Its a bad endgame for the entire world to have these two saber rattling each other and throwing the "nuke" word around. I mean does Russia really think we would nuke them? Come on... I don't think anyone besides Iran, North Korea, or ISIS would be stupid enough to actually use one of those hell makers.

they should prepare in case the US once again decides to dropped Nuclear weapons on other nations, as history has shown. except this time the opposing nation has nukes of their own, so it wont be a one sided mass murder of innocent and infrastructure .

I'm betting its about 30% practical (getting people ready), 20% paranoia (no one is gonna nuke Russia), and about 90% to make a big show and get in the news.

I feel like people in the West are going to make a bigger deal about this than needed. The Russian economy is currently circling the drain. As long as Putin can reinforce the belief that all of Russia's woes are caused by the West instead of a corrupt government he can hold on to his power. Putin wants his people to fear the boogeyman he has created and believe that he's the only one that can protect them.

After rallying support, we'd sanction the hell out of them and take chances now and then--like in Syria. Nuke them? Not unless they nuke us.

However, if this story is true and 40 million people are in fact involved in a drill then Russia is using the situation to convince its own people it's threatened. When people feel their country is threatened, they're more likely to support it. It's similar to 9/11 when we all got terrorized and the Bush administration used the energy to get us into Afghanistan and Iraq.

The first thing that crossed my mind when I saw Putin for the first time; he will start a nuclear war.

Anyways how the west, escpecially the US behaves, could make it a reality... the US is building a missile defense system in Polen and other EU country's bordering Russia (for they say against Iran! yea lol), the sanctions on Russia (and more probably in the future), the support of terrorists by the US and EU in Syria, the meddling in Ukraine... the Olympics where there athletes where not allowed and so on, yea I think Putin could do it...
Putin loves his country so much and a normal war is impossible and Russia is pretty weak compared, except with nukes, only with that they have a change.

The US must control the world, Russia getting close to the EU and getting economical stronger, means they loose control, it's better imo for the US that Russia is being hostile to the West, they can sell more weapons to the EU and have more control with doing that.., at least that's my theory.

Our leaders are insane, that's for sure, no doubt there at least!

You can say what you want, but there's a real risk of conflict between the US and Russia. Especially if the US keeps going on with it's idiotic foreign policy, of overthrowing legally elected governments which they dislike.

Putin is doing a great job in standing up to the real terrorists( the west for those of you who might get confused ).

Things are definitely getting scary. Suddenly I'm glad that Washington DC is over 500 miles away, and that Detroit almost certainly wouldn't be on their target list.

Edited to add: Our leaders are totally spoiling for a fight. The US has absolutely zero interest in Syria, except as a proxy war with the eeeeeeeeeevil Russians.

Lets hope cooler heads prevail. There is nothing to gain from a Nuclear War!.
