I have 'memories' of being someone else in the distant past. What is wrong with me?

for many many years now I have had depression and the reason below is the major cause of that depression but I feel afraid to tell of it.
I've had an assortment of idiopathic false memories from literally as long as I possibly can remember. Some of these false memories are disturbing, despite their ridiculousness.

I have a memory of being somebody else in the distant past. The memories are fragmented but vivid and make me feel intense and mostly incomprehensible emotions. I have a memory of being a man. These false memories, I identify with them more so than my real memories. For example memory of being a man. I feel like a man. I took hormones and had surgery. I feel like these false memories represent my 'real' self. I have a memory of being killed and I was young, I was engaged with a young woman and we had plans to travel the world together. I 'remember' her name, and the way she looked. When I was little I reported that ''I saw my wife again'' at my bedside, but she would then quickly vanish as I went to touch her. I said to my parents that my ''darling wife'' would be over one hundred years old. Take note that when I said this, I had the body of a girl, and I was about 6 years old. My parents do think I am crazy.

I don't feel like my body is mine, and I'm changing it to feel more like my ''former self'' (that's how I really feel!)
These memories are causing depression because they feel so....real to me, the person in those memories feels more like the real me, and this body I have right now is just a shell for that 'old' self of mine. I long for something. I legitimately feel as if I'm a ghost who has taken possession of a body when it was a baby. I have memories of being in the womb and being born as well.

When I was around 6 or 7 I tried to explain my feelings to my parents, but they couldn't understand me. (It was something to do with self-awareness and consciousness, and about why I was in 'this body' or something along those lines.)
Am I schizophrenic? Do I have some kind of brain damage? I've tried posting everywhere on different forums to try to get to the bottom of this, but to no avail.

It means the veil of forgetfulness is fading. If you remember who you were you will know the future as well. It's also in the bible. Idk something about a veil being uncovered by God but I doubt it.

You are not alone... many have recollections of their past lives.

Don't worry about your past life and try to be happy now.

Well these people on reddit said past lives are bogus and that I am a liar because souls do not exist etc. [I was banned off of reddit because I suggested something that may be supernatural and I guess because of that, I kind of feel like I really am just crazy].

Who cares what they say!? People are fearful of what they don't understand.

How old are you?

20 nearly 21. My parents also think I'm mental because of how I act differently.

Have you been to a psychiatrist? I just saw your other thread where you have nightmares.... you could be undergoing some type of mental change. You should get checked out if you haven't yet.

Dreams are normal and many people have recollections of a past life so not sure how to guide you other than get checked out and go from there.

If there is reincarnation, how confusing it would be if you remembered your past lives right from the start of a new life. bit of a nightmare really I would think.

Anyhow, so if there is no such thing as reincarnation, then what you have is some simple psychological disorders, either way, if it is making you depressed, you should figure out a way to purge the association with the memories, reincarnation or not. Anything causing a source of depression should be taken care of.

Perhaps a talk with a psychologist is in order and not for the aim of having him/her believe you, but rather, so you can just identify a possibility, find a way to overcome and move on...end of the day, even if it is remembering a past life, it isn't helping you in this one (do you remember where you stored the big chest of gold or something? no? then forget it and focus on now)

I strongly doubt that there is any such account in the Bible. I have read and re-read the Bible many times over more than 40 years and have no recollection of it saying anything of the sort.

The only Biblical reference that says anything remotely like what you said, says that God has veiled understanding of the covenant (agreement He made with Moses and Israel) from unbelievers but reveals it to believers in Christ (in 2 Corinthians 3:13-18).

It could be reincarnation or it could be a Dissociative Identity Disorder.

If it is reincarnation, then I'm not sure what you could do about it. If it is DID, then you can take action by seeking trained and qualified help.

Either way, you are here, now. You current happiness should take precedence over a memory.

There are many biblical texts, and many interpretations. Like Mauro Biglino's translations which are strictly literal readings of it, the Vatican had hired him to translate a number of texts but once he went public his contracts were ended.

That's not including all the information prior to Jesus, and history from then was destroyed and is continuously purged to keep man from knowing its true history.

You are your body, friend, inside and out. One thing is for certain, you are not a set of memories or feelings, which are fleeting, and you should at least try to change those before you change yourself.

Why? Is God naughty?

Actually, the Vatican has had an entire planetload of academics over roughly two thousand years to spin off translations of the Bible.

I really strongly doubt that they would pay this guy for yet another translation.

Part of the academic training of Priests is to be able to read and speak the original languages used in the Bible (and Latin, too). With more than 300,000 Priests to call on for free, it is not credible for them to want to pay someone else to produce something that they already have in excess.

In 'most cases' the Past Life Recollection is to learn a lesson. Once that lesson is learned You'll be able to see further down the 'time spiral' this allows You to avoid any mishaps along the way. So once You get past this little knoll, it'll be ALL downhill from there and the wind will be at Your back..

Good Luck along Your journey...

Sound like past life memories to me. Most of the babies remember something about their past lives up to two, three, very few at older age. If one remembers the past life longer time than childhood, they may become disturbed and can't live this life without confusion, that's why we don't normally remember past lives. But in the future when humans are ascending on fifth density we are able to remember more about our past lives and it is not going to affect us anymore so badly. This is from Indian Guru. Meditation and thus releasing past karma will help.
