The brain can be manipulated to change our personalities, memories, and emotions. So this leaves nothing for the soul to do. Souls die shortly after the person dies, it's very rare for a soul to persist for a significant amount of time. Are souls just parasites that target only humans?

Shortly after? Is this a scientific fact?
The first step would be to prove the existence of a soul, which no one has been able to do

See "Duncan McDougall", and his "21 gram-soul" theory/experiment

So you think you ARE a body and not a soul? We ARE soul not a body.

Very strange OP.

If we're a soul not a body, how come we can manipulate our brains chemically, etc to alter our personalities, emotions and thoughts? The things the brain does leaves nothing for the soul to do...

You can use it to barter for wealth and/or fame.

I don't believe in souls anymore, OP, so I think you're onto something. We are bodies, not souls!

I believe in souls, but to me they're parasites more than anything. A parasite feeds off its host and doesn't do anything beneficial towards the host. The host can survive without the parasite.

What a unique view.

I'd say most people associate souls with morals and beliefs about what's right and wrong, good and bad, having a heart vs. being heartless. Do you?

Maybe a little, but then again, drugs and alcohol can affect your morals.

How is it that the knowledge of good and evil can be parasitic and un-beneficial?

The only way it could feel parasitic is if you're feeling guilty about something. But sometimes people feel shame for no reason, too. So that could be un-beneficial, as you say. Like feeling embarrassed and ashamed about sweating, having boogers, being human, and etc.

The body is like a machine to me and in order for it run smoothly it requires certain things, like any machine, which results in morals for me personally.

we need soul and all forms of music. James Brown was very entertaining, the "godfather of soul".

I believe the soul is eternal. Its the body that dies. What would be the point in life if it was to live it only once, with no chance to experience more and fix and learn from our mistakes to strengthen it for the next rounds....?

To live only once...wear out a body...that would be pointless!

What an odd question!

The soul in your body is you. You inhabit your body. Surely you must realise this or have I misunderstood something?

if anything is eternal is suggests no beginning , no end , no middle, just always existed.

if we were "eternal beings" that didnt consist of matter then there would be absoloutely no purpose, until someone has a soul to show off it can be dismissed as woo.

Can I have your soul since you don't believe in it?

For some reason I thought you did not know this. My apology.

You are correct but many people are blind because of the reflection they see in the mirror.
