Aren't all of Hillary's overt foreign donors more of a concern than the Russians? I mean talk about foreign influence. It's all right there in front of our noses. No need to pose wild theories and false allegations.

You mean emails suggesting that Clinton gave preferential access to donors to the Clinton Foundation? Yes, that's bad. It's worth noting that it's no less speculation than the above as there's been no evidence that any decisions Clinton or the administration made were unduly influenced by anyone's donations.

It's also worth noting that none of those examples of alleged pay-to-play involved foreign states with which we have a long and mutually acrimonious relationship.

Have you been following this at all? Trump has surrounded himself with not just friends of Putin but business associates.

Paul Manafort, who got his start working for Ferdinand Marcos in the 80's (this guy loves him some tyrants), wasn't just responsible for helping the pro-Putin Yanukovych get elected, he was intimately involved in all manners of corruption. Last I heard his name had turned up in a ledger of bribes, kickbacks and payoffs with Manafort receiving something like $12.7 million (from that single source). He's tied up foreign anti-corruption investigations. He's being sued right now over his involvement in a cable TV backroom deal that put millions in his pocket. You've heard of Yanukovych right? Yanukovych the super-crony who had to flee his own country after having snipers shoot protestors (what was the death toll there? 100?). None of this is idle speculation nor is a "wild theory" that Yanukovych was whisked off to Russia. Putin has taken the credit for rescuing his pal publically.

Carter Page has been showing up in threads on ATS for the last what? Two days? He hasn't garnered much covereage on cable news, Breitbart and Disinfowhores of course haven't been covering him, so nobody has really been paying much attention around here.

That doesn't mean that nobody has been paying attention and you might be surprised who if you start looking into it because it's not the "liberal media" and even some sources favorable to Trump were critical of Carter Page's speech in Russia back in July and his meetings with shady Russian officials with links to organized crime.

What do you know about Carter Page? Former Merrill Lynch big wig, CFR member, advisor to Russian oligarchs, fixer/deal maker who spent years in Moscow on the Gazprom payroll and now has significant holdings in the state-controlled gas company? Now it comes out that he's been meeting up with sanctioned Russian officials and the Trump campaign is acting like they never heard of the guy. Which isn't too disimilar ot how Manafort officially left the campaign and went to work for CNN and it turns out he's been drawing checks from both CNN and Trump all along to the tune of $20,000 a month.

Then there's Boris Epshteyn. Have you even heard of him? Pro-Putin Russian Trump media advisor?

How about the Agalarov family? Familiar with them? Aras Agalarov is a billionaire buddy of Putin and it came out months ago that he was acting as a liason trying to setup a face to face between Trump and Putin.

Who else? Richard Burt the former Reagan aide and Ambassador to Germany who helped craft Trump's foreign policy speech and sits on the senior advisory board of Alfa-Bank, the largest private commercial bank in Russia.

The list goes on and on and on. Now the pro-Trump crowd who scrutinizes the shadows of Clinton's pantsuits looking for evidence of catheters and complains that there weren't enough American flags at the DNC convention, wants to dismiss the OVERT ties between Trump and the Putin-led Eastern European oligarchy at best and at worst, insinuate that it's fine if Putin and pals are intervening in our politics to elect somebody they can manipulate because the US has installed puppet regimes in foreign countries?

Holy f---. I can't wait for Trump's next proclamation:

"I could plan to make America Russia's b# right under my supporter's noses and I wouldn't lose any votes!"

Fort Hood shooter didn't have anything to do with ISIS.

America is under attack from ISIS.

Yes, we're "under attack" from ISIS because a handful of self-radicalized terrorists (who with what? one exception?) were all American citizens? Have killed a total of what? 80 or so people?

How many Americans have given their lives to protect our democracy and preserve our sovereignty? It's highly probable that those things are under direct attack by a foreign state.

Now the same crowd that chants "USA! USA! USA!" at the drop of a hat is ready to embrace foreign intervention from Putin. So much for all that professed patriotism. Nice irrational false dichotomy though!

Cool story comrade.

The cognitive dissonace in this thread is unbelievable.

I liked your explanation for not gathering guns on this one

All countries manipulate, even ours. So when we cry foul it makes us look weak and petty.

I don't understand the double standard. One day the left is pro UN, and is OK with us breaking laws that antagonize countries. Then when said countries retaliate we go to arms. I'm a patriot, but I want my country to do things the right way, maybe then we could get some international respect back.

Part of the problem is that we have no coherence on what our foreign policy is. If one "side" considers a country an ally, the other side automatically hates that country or any policy related to it. It makes us wildly inconsistent and unreliable. It doesn't matter if one side or the other proposed a thing, a policy should be carried through as a matter of honor when it has been made with another party unless it is terribly damaging not dropped suddenly like a hot potato.

And we've started doing that. Who would want to be our ally when they can only count on that for maybe 4 years?

You think Russia spends its last dime on the US?

I don't have a horse in this race as a Canadian, but the total amount of money that has been raised for the US election is $1,097,522,662 - almost an even $1.1 billion - and $968,853,461 dollars of that has already been spent.

Eye-watering number, isn't it?

www.opensecrets.org...

If the Russians have $32 billion cash on hand they don't need to get anywhere close to spending all that money to have a significant effect on the US election cycle. The Russians also have a cyber task force and propaganda arm that has been operational for years. So I don't think the Russian Federation would need to spend much in the way of any extra money to fund an attack beyond what they are already pay to employ state run hackers and propagandists.

On July 25th:

Evidence that could publicly attribute responsibility for the DNC hack certainly exists at #NSA, but DNI traditionally objects to sharing.
— Edward Snowden (@Snowden) July 25, 2016
twitter.com...

Then today we got:

Two senior Democratic lawmakers with access to classified intelligence on Thursday accused Russia of "making a serious and concerted effort to influence the U.S. election."
washingtonpost.com...

That classified intelligence couldn't have possibly come from the NSA, right?

I don't doubt for a second that Russia is trying to help Trump win.

Putin and Trump have both expressed respect for one anothers leadership styles. How could a new era of cooperation between the two nations be a bad thing?

For my 2 cents.

Russia has not been proven to have leaked anything. It's just the DNC attempting to shift the blame for the DNC's proven crimes. All Putin did was say that Hillary and Obama have been attacking his country for Soro's and other dangerous globalists. And he would much rather deal with Trump. Not because Trump is weak or stupid , but because Trump is not a bought off criminal.

Hillary's only chance is to make up slanderous lies against Trump to shift attention off of Hillary who has proven she needs to be in prison to start healing America and the rest of the world. Along with some other politicians I can think of.

Traitor!

Even if that's true. Putin is a much better friend of the US than Obama, Clinton, or Soro's any day.

I think Trump is selling out to Russia before he is even elected, wasn't this supposed to be his strength? He won't sell out because he is already rich???

Yeah, Trump is Putin's bitch. If he wins, expect to see him roll over and play dead while Putin gets whatever he wants.

Good. That would mean less illegal wars.

As a "Doctor" I would assume you know when and when not to use an apostrophe. Apostrophe followed by an 's' is a possessive form. The man's name is George Soros. And he doesn't possess "any day".

I hate grammar nazis something fierce, so please feel free to write Soros's name in whatever weird wacked out way suits you. I only bring it up because you've repeatedly written the name as "Soro's" and it is an eyesore- like reading a belligerent typing ALL CAPS with exclamation marks that go on for 5 pages.

I honestly don't know if you are trolling or if you really believe this. Do you think the intelligence agencies get a phone call from a political committee (which anyone can create) and then conference call in the FBI, CIA, NSA, NRO, and the other three letter agencies all to collaborate to make up a BS story to sell to the American people about Russians attacking the US voting system? The level of stupid here is over 9000.

Boy! That reset button took us all the way back to the cold war!

The Dems are using Trump as a scapegoat for everything, for sure.

I just don't get how the truth is a bad thing.

It works both ways. If actionable intel shows the Russians influenced the election that would means the results are tainted regardless of who wins the election. Seriously, take a breath and think about that. If Hillary wins and we have evidence the Russians manipulated the vote, what then? The integrity of the vote matters.
