Ciaran Martin, CEO of United Kingdom’s new cybersecurity watchdog, National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), announced plans for a government/industry formed DNS firewall to protect government and core industry internet interests at the Billington Cyber Security Summit in Washington DC earlier this week. The NCSC was formed by government mandate and though it expressly includes the private sector, the NCSC still answers to the GCHQ. They even have the stated goal of “making the UK the safest place to live and work online.”

What that means is they will only allow traffic from outside they deem necessary and up to their standards . Isnt that what a firewall does?

A firewall is a security measure.
What this implies is more of a propaganda check valve sort of thing.
Just need to make sure any website not under full control of the media (banks) is kept from the eye of the public.
That crazy guy standing on the corner telling you the end is near might be crazy- but he might just know something you don't.
Do you really want to leave it up to the bankers, media, and corporations to decide if you need to know what he knows?
Censorship is never for the common good, period.
