That proves nothing, only stubbornness, and ignorance.

Live your life and eat what you want, nobody is stopping you.

How is it going, Signals?

I'm feeling awesome, physically- I don't why this diet makes me feel so strong!
On the other hand, I have been getting headaches the last two days. I went through that for a while last time, and it passed. Hope it will this time.

I am SO sick of having people lecture me about how I shouldn't be doing this!
It isn"t known in France, no one has ever heard of it, and people keep getting on my back about how carbs are good for you and I shouldn't be paying attention to crazy diets picked up off the web.
It's getting to where I am starting to make up other excuses for not eating certain things with everyone, because I don't want to go into the subject with them.

Hey all, time for an update. Last night we had Keto-chilli, felt like I really pigged out. This morning I had a Whataburger "breakfast on a bun", minus the bun. Then I spent 3 hours weed-eating my yard and my in-laws (neighbor) yard.

Just stepped on the scale...

217.8 !!!!

So, in 7 weeks, I've lost 28 pounds. My goal is around 200, once I reach there I will slowly re-introduce carbs and start to work out again.

I did start "cheating" a bit once a week, only during Saints games, I drink 2 Michelob Ultras.
This afternoon we're having Keto-pizza, which is basically

* 1 low-carb tortilla shell
* low-carb and sugar tomato sauce
* black olives, green olives, onions, pepperoni
* extra real mozzarella

Tastes like thin crust.

Have a Keto weekend!

Congrats!!!!

HOw do you cook up that pizza???
I'd love to be able to have that now that the weather is cooling off and we can turn on the oven again.

I don't do KETO...but try to keep my carbs at about 30-40 per day.
BUT...my downfall is potato chips.....and nachos.
I've had great success with a modified Atkins plan.
When I did it the first time....about 2004.....I used to make my own yogurt with half and half....it was awesome stuff....and easy to make.
Nowadays, I just use either full fat or 2% Fage Greek yogurt.....better protein profile.

That is how I felt when I first did ATkins in 2003!!!

At that time, I found a LC forum for support...which ironically led me to ATS LOL!!!

Anyway, this time around, both my husband and I have cut most sugar from our diets....and I cannot eat wheat...he cannot eat corn....so that helps limits the carbs we can eat.

It amazes me that the American Heart Assoc. and the American Diabetic Assoc....and the FDA/USDA keep singing the praises of grains and carbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought Europe was more enlightened

But FOOEY!!!! on them.
We both know what grains...especially wheat do to bodies....and yeah, the wheat/digestive thing is a PITA for me as well.

In France, the "baguette" bread is a main staple- it is eaten with every meal. If anyone sees you not eating it, then they don't hesitate to loudly point that out and demand why.

Breakfast anywhere else than home is a problem because bread with butter and jam is what is eaten everywhere- it is all that is offered, (in most hotels for example, or if we stay at a friends house). There's no way to get an egg or anything for breakfast, and not eating the bread gets a lecture on the importance of eating in the morning.

I think the thing that gets them even more is that I don't eat fruits other than berries. They have a very hard time understanding that one....

Whatever. I am just sick of other people judging what they know nothing about.

That would be tough!!!!
I cannot imagine not having eggs or yogurt for breakfast!!!!!

What...is there no gluten intolerance in France?
Since you mention digestive issues when you eat bread....I have to wonder?

From what I understand, there is (gluten intolerance), but it is more rare than in the US. The same thing is true of lactose intolerance, apparently, statistically. I guess populations evolve according to their diet....

Hello all, time for another update...

Last week we had a family get together at a catfish restaurant, it was tough. Messed around and ate some fried catfish and hush puppies, felt so guilty about it, LoL..

Was stuck around 211 for about a week. Have remained strict Keto this entire time. Friday night on the way home, picked up a 24 oz can of Modelo, slammed it down when I got home, and it tasted GREAT. Absolutely torn-up stomach all-day yesterday, but now at 207.8 for 2 days.

That's 40 lbs. in almost 3 months, my wife has lost about 28 lbs., and we're still on board and loving it. Every time I "cheat", just a little, it seems to spur more weight loss, it's weird. The toughest part is the guilt associated with it.

Congratulations on your success.

I wonder if you've ever tried cloud bread.

I can't find the exact recipe but, I think someone here shared it with me a long time ago. I used to make it for me and my nephew who is T1D.
Basic ingredients were egg whites, cream cheese and cream of tartar. I had to play around/adjust the recipe to get the right consistency but, soon enough, everyone in the house was enjoying it.

It could be used in place of regular sliced bread (depending on consistency) or with added savory spices be made into almost a dinner roll replacement.

Good luck on your continued path.

Hello all, time for another update.

Yesterday, I stepped on the scale and officially hit the 50 pound loss mark, in 4 months!

This diet has been amazing. I only have about 5-7 lbs to go to my new target, then slowly re-introduce small amounts of carbs, and way, way more exercise.

I haven't weighed under 200 in 16 years.

Signals is a new man!

If you have any questions or need advice on where to start, let me know,

Hey Signals! Its been over a year since any posts on this thread but I wanted to chime in to see if anyone will reply.

Are you still doing keto eating and how are you progressing?

I started the ketogenic diet a few days ago. Loving it and feeling better already. Would really like to get some ideas or suggestions from anyone doing keto.

I started it again on Tuesday! I lost 30 lbs of baby weight doing Keto in 2015, but then I got pregnant again... gained it all back. Women in my family just don't bounce back from babies easily.

Went into ketosis yesterday, according to the pee strips. Ate a pinch of salt and chugged water to stave off the keto flu whenever my head ached. And yes, I know it's water weight, but I'm down six pounds since Tuesday. My rings are looser on my hands.

Are you finding good recipes, Sassy? Keto cooking is even more fun than regular cooking. Maybe because you can eat, not starve on calorie restriction, and still lose weight.

I am so excited to find this thread! I am day 6 into Keto. The strips show only a small % of Ketosis but have read they are not always so reliable. With the "Reli-On" strips that is.

Went in and day 2 was really craving pizza, so found a terrific recipe on youtube that came out unbelievable and deliciously satisfying. Made a whole small size pie and could literally eat only 2 pieces and then gorged on a third.

Put the last piece in the freezer and fed it to my highly active 17 yro after his full day of workouts, ball practice and school.

I had to tell him it was not my usual thin crust but cauliflower and fresh grated Parmigiano cheese crust! Crispy, lightly browned and topped with fresh herbs, a lite sauce, pepperoni and mozzarella.

Have to dash, will check back

Hi. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you are back on track with it! Awesome!
I think in my first 2 or 3 days I lost 10 lbs. Felt so good to some that bloated water weight.
My ankles are so happy!
So far, I have lost a total of 14 lbs. I'm like you, I never bounced back after having kids.
I have been in ketosis since day 3 and am currently burning medium to high levels.

I have found wonderful recipes on several sites. My favorite site is dietdoctor.com. So many good recipes.
I love cooking and the keto casseroles are usually simple but quick to put together. OH and Fat Head Pizza, wow is that stuff delicous!

I have heard terrible stories about the keto flu! Thankfully I haven't had to deal with it. I dont salt my food so I usually have my first glass of water with a bit of sea salt.

I'm super excited about it and love seeing and hearing other peoples success stories!

Keep on and Keto on

Hi! Welcome to the club

So glad this thread is alive again.
I think it took me 3 or so days to get enough into ketosis for it to show up on the strip tester.

So you made the Fat Head Pizza? My hubby just absolutely loved it! His family owns a pizzaria and he wants to put that on the menu. I think it was at the end of my first week that I made it and thats when I fell in love with
the keto WOE. The more recipes I make the more I amazed with the entire thing.

Good luck to you!

My fave keto pizza crust is equal parts shredded chicken breast and mozzarella. Add some oregano, and it's insane. Bake at 350 for 20 min. Have to eat it with a fork, though, if you make it thick.
