Like the title says, I am working at a VA hospital and I know that has been an issue lately in the news. If anyone has questions on what I see that goes on around here please HMU.

Normally when you start a thread, you put something of substance in the post, not the promise of something later. By itself being a "contractor" is not going to put you in some sort of special position where you have access to things the rest of us do not. If you're a plumbing contractor, you'll see lots of toilets. On the other hand, if you're a forensic accountant working on the books, you may come across some interesting stuff. So far you have offered nothing meaningful.

As some previous posters have indicated, not knowing what sort of work you do limits people's abilities to direct questions to you. How about we try this to get the ball rolling?

Assuming that you have witnessed things that you consider to be troublesome in some way (ie. in need of addressing), that affects patient care, tell us about the "top 3".

Many people work in buildings. If you've got something to share, then share it. We've got a veritable buffet of attention seeking "AMA" threads on this site. I hardly think we need another one.

Yeah...you need to make a few small paragraphs in new threads as required so that members around the world who dont quite understand English completely....can understand what the heck youre talking about.

Please. Ts and Cs about starting new threads with minimal content or description.

Sorry it took so long to reply. But from coming to the VA everyday for about 6 months now. The place is more like a hang out than a actual hospital. Armed guards at every entrance. Most of the people that are coming for the ER are people coming in for drug abuse. But only a short walk from the ER is the closed in pharmacy where VETs are walking out with bags full of meds and then falling asleep on the chairs. There is a rule here that if you get caught sleeping you get kicked out. (because most of the time they are not sleeping but nodding out).

I can tell you that there is a big street drug problem here from all the heroin bags i see on the ground. The gaurds care and some of the staff seem to care but the doctors here sprint from door to door trying to avoid the people. I see most of the same people here everyday, as I said its more of a hang out.

Oh and they have a starbucks!

I would be careful what you post here or anywhere else on the internet about
the VA.You could possibly lose your job, your insurance and pension.

Because its more like give them a bag of drugs and push them out the door. Ive seen people here get arrested for stealing food.

Its very clear from being here that more needs to be done

Which one?

Are you working at that over budget mess in Denver??

It's also behind schedule which sucks bc there are SO many military men and women, active and retired, here in Colorado.

First, you need to re-read his OP.

Second, unless his employer has specific rules regarding internet use while not on the clock, he can say what he wants.

It's called the First Amendment, freedom of speech.

Btw, I have a hard time believing you're a Trump supporter. Would expect this comment from a liberal SJW.

The amount of work that is being done to this place is unreal. This building is very old. If they would have just built a new building from the ground up, it would have saved them lots.
