Once upon a time, we relied on the media to do what the hackers are doing.

Perhaps someday, we will look back on Guccifer et al the same way we look at Deep Throat today, but that will only happen if their efforts are worthwhile.

Does anyone even know what they're looking at? I've been reading through the Matt Forney Twitter feed (that would Matt Forney of Taki's btw, for those who insist the alt-right is made up).

Let's take a look at a few of them:

There's a whole lot of tweets about collusion between OFA and the DNC. OFA is Organizing for Action. Organizing for Action is a social welfare non-profit (501c4) that essentially advocates for Obama's agenda. They operate the @BarackObama Twitter account and their website is www.barackobama.com.

I hate to break it to Matt Forney but 501(c)(4) organizations are allowed to cordinate with political campaigns. That's not illegal. He also says in one Tweet that ACORN was shutdown for "collusion" and that's not true. ACORN was defunded because of fabricated "evidence" pushed by Breitbart, Trump's new official "news" network.

The promotion of social welfare does not include direct or indirect participation or intervention in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office. However, a section 501(c)(4) social welfare organization may engage in some political activities, so long as that is not its primary activity. However, any expenditure it makes for political activities may be subject to tax under section 527(f).

- Invested in infrastructure including National Voter ID, which allows the Party to link information across our volunteer, contribution, email and voter file systems to get a complete picture of the people we touch, and the Voter Contact Service which allows us to quickly build new ways to contact voters.
- Created applications for Android, iPhone and iPad platforms tha the Washington Post called one of the most innovative advancements of the cycle.
- Built call.barackobama.com, which volunteers used to call voters from home.

What? Were you expecting something sinister as suggested by "manipulating information online?" Nope, run-of-the-mill voter out-reach stuff.

So far this is looking pretty meh.

The dates don't match up for early voting for any 2008 election in North Carolina preciesly. All of their GEs were in November. Early voting by mail in NC doesn't start until September. Seems like it's the results of early vote counting from a particular NC district. It's also worth noting that the Republican vote count is significantly higher.
