What does WATS and applause mean?

From the left hand side of our Avatar area, it's the only things I don't know what are. I've been here enough that I should know but I really do not. Heh.

Wait, I think I finally got it. It's comes from the other side. WATS would be an award for many great threads. Applause would be from the websites founders. ??? I dunno. Lol

It's a good thread by a good member. Hopefully it isn't overly complicated.

The link well tell you most of the story, though many people, including myself, have "glitches" in the system that throw the scores terribly off. Since it has been there for awhile, the owners obviously have no intention of fixing it, so it is more or less an abandoned concept.

You get 500 points if a mod applauds your post, and you get at least 500 points taken away if a mod sanctions your post (for selected sanctions only.) But the funny thing is, points no longer have anything at all to do with Real Life, though they do count on the same level as getting a flag for a thread.

I don't believe there is a place any more. You can see "applause" in your profile. Multiply by 500 and that should give you a rough total. That just shows you how out of date the system is.

I 'm sorry, but I don't see that on either my Profile or yours. I don't recall ever have seen that exact phrase before, though it's very close to the WATS Score, which is "Way Above Top Secret" and explained in the first link given in this thread.

There is also a "Really Above Top Secret" forum here that originally you had to pay points to get access to, but no longer. It's difference is that it is not crawled by eb Bots so that search results do not show in general searches. This is thought to give the participants an extra measure of privacy.

None of these quite match your question though.

Where? When I look at your profile I do not see it anywhere. On the Basic Stats side (left side) I see what is below. There are no other stats anywhere on your profile page. Perhaps your own view is different, but in any case, I've never heard of it and I have no idea what it is supposed to mean.
