I have read about this "legal" position many times, on many different sites. If the US suffers another 9/11 type/size attack, military law comes into effect. Bush could extend his rule for ever!

The US patriot Act does enable the government to have full power, including "outlawing" elections, etc. The UK has a bill that can do the exact same thing aswell.

Why don't you try backing up your claims. Nygdan is not the one making unfounded claims. Try providing a few links to support you claims instead of just saying you read about it on the internet somewhere.

Could you quote the part of the Patriot Act that authorizes this. I must have missed it on my read through.

There was some discussion by the federal election comitees as to having that as a possibility. What part of the patriot act or 'homeland security act' gives the fed the ability to suspend elections?


I am not saying these things do not exist, hell, for all I know, there is a law that made george bush president for life, or gave him the powers of the executive divested of the office of the president. Or maybe there was a coronation ceremony at bohemian grove and most of the country attended and was baptised in holy bush water and pledged allegiance to him. Maybe some senator passed a law that changes the organization of the military into Legions and Cohorts and makes them privately operated by Senators. Just cite the law and there can be a discussion about it.

well according to the source i used, it stated that cause the election was a "tie", apparently, he was appointed as president not voted in.

And as was also pointed out, the popular vote means nothing. The SC simply stated he won Florida, giving him the votes, which in turn caused the Electoral College to elect him. What the popular numbers stated mean little in the bigger picture.

But the election wasn't a tie, it was an electoral victory for bush. The SCOTUS didn't appoint him, they ruled that the extra rounds of recounts should stop, since there were already recounts that confirmed that Bush won Florida.

It's quite amazing on how foreigners 'think' they know how this country works. How ill informed they are. In both the 2000 election and 2004 election it has been proven time and again the President Bush won fairly and by the majority. Of course all these 'people' claim voter irregularities yet they can seem to ever provide and actual true one. Or the instances they do bring up or never compared to other occasions. I'd like to put in my two cents worth if it's OK.

Amendment XVIII (18) reads:

The next Amendment to the Constitution will be XXVIII (28).
