They ate in silence allowing the Light Bearer's words to sink in. Once they finished dining, Veeta provided wine and ale. Night sipped her drink and gazed into Garren's eyes. She could sense his confusion and shock, elation, disappointment and hope all at once. She wanted to hold him and tell him that all would be well, but she sat still in anticipation of what he might say or do. The boy stared at the marred wooden table while he drank his ale. "How do I know that what you say is true? We just met you and know only what you have told us." With a gentle smile Tobias tried to explain.

"The forest guardians saved you. They knew it wasn't safe to keep you anywhere near here and as the years passed, you grew to be an intelligent, wise and insightful young man full of promises and possibilities. It was your right as heir to the throne to one day return. The dark elves were more of a challenge than we expected. Since you were too young yet, we decided to allow them to stay. Some of us remained hidden here so that we could infiltrate the heart of their dark armies with knowledge attained by spying and shared our discoveries with other light bearers. Ah, but now...now your time has come. Look..." Tobias swept his hand to the hall entrance and in sauntered a great Lion Warrior.

Garren could feel the power of the beast, the strong beat of its heart, the pride, strength and light that were his and his alone. Night sensed it as well. The boy stood up and held his hand out toward the magnificent beast. The lion came closer. "I am Nakomas, one of many lion warriors who will serve you well." The lion placed his massive paw in the boys hand. Behind him, one by one were knights dressed in similar accoutrements, swords held across their chest. They gathered around the room. One of the men stood tall and proud. "There are many more of us as well your Majesty." He bowed his head in deep respect.

Pesky stood atop a wine goblet feeling tipsy and wobbling trying to keep her balance. "Well, we certainly weren't expecting any of this now were we? All this time we were in the company of royalty. Who would have thought?" With her last word, she suddenly fell into the goblet with a splash. Night quickly retrieved the embarrassed pixie and tried not to laugh, but she laughed anyway and so did all the others. Pesky crawled into Night's hair and hid.

Tip toes through the shadows checking on her fellow Sheddites. With a chill in the air, she makes sure their fires are burning bright in their fireplaces, except for those in Countries where it is warming up. Steps out into the night and looks up at the moon and stars smiling and wondering what's really out there. Ponders for a while before sneaking back in, making sure not wake anyone, or disturb whoever may just be waking up. Shhhh, all is quiet, peaceful and content.

Hiya Skiddy! Lazy Sunday for me too. Chilly here. I guess Autumn really did arrive. I started hearing the geese leaving yesterday. I will be hearing groups of them into November. I always say goodbye to them and that I'll see them again next year. Yeah, I'm weird like that. LOL
