Tell me, did you mix your own watercolor using the egg white from the egg on the painting as the base too?

Goodness no! I don't mix my own paints, just use regular watercolor out of the tube. I believe the binding agent in watercolor is gum arabic, whereas if you use egg it would be egg tempera. This painting is kind of cheating because I messed up on the highlights and had to use white acrylic.

I just used the eggshell because I knew it would have to be photographed (too big to scan) so I figured that would give it a cool 3D effect.

I just submitted another entry "Shibuya"....that is true watercolor. The white of the painting is the white of the paper showing through. And the entire thing was done in one pigment, sepia.

Love it! I was looking at the eggshell and thinking 'wow thats really realistic', and then I read underneath that it's an actual eggshell, lol.
