My opinion is there's something here the children aren't telling us.

These also don't seem like the actions of someone being hunted down for owing money, for drugs or whatever else.

This reeks of something paranormal or supernatural.

Thanks for the reply, and the thread url posted below it.

I actually posted in that thread and started a new one 'why' those UFOs.

A minor theme in that thread and one I support is those crafts can cause psychological issues besides fear.

So I hear you, and while I don't know the area involved I wouldn't discount those effects either.

Well if you're a mother/father and owe someone drugs/money, dealing with people who'll threaten your life or kill you for not living up to your end of the deal and they're after you, you'd hide, you'd try to disappear and you certainly would keep your kids as far away as possible.

This reminds more more of a few creepy/horror movies I've seen where a family is being hunted by something supernatural. Much of that is just Hollywood but a few of them, documentaries too, are based on true stories.

I think so too. Mess with your mind field test?

The phones and pokemon go seem to be connected. How does he know they are playing that game? Seems like some electric manipulation... like an overload. Too much information can do strange things!

Thanks for sharing!

Does this remind anyone of the family that did that in the US?

They gave up everything and walked across the mexican border never to be seen again?

Working off memory here.

It was a big deal then, I think.

eta; they found them dead but still a mystery.

Reading a bit more,

It's obvious the son and other sister wasn't there for whatever started this, and most probably didn't believe a word thier parents and sister told them, hence why he took his phone along, causing a panic when it was revealed (the first report i read had him throwing it out on the train.. this has now changed) that he'd not listened.

Stranger still is that all comments from the family are coming from him and his sister, who came latter and as i said most probably were along for the ride with a skeptical mindset (understandably.. as they weren't there for what ever started this).

The family members (mom/dad/daughter) that were apparently home on the weekend are all in a bad state of mind, and the family according to police and other close family (who is also police) has no history of mental illness nor were there any signs of this beforehand. according to those closest this is all very out of character and even the cops are pondering what the hell is going on here.

they left keys in ignitions, credit cards.. house wide open. they ran fast and hard not looking back.
It just gets stranger..

I'd love to be able to sit down with the wife and daughter and ask a few "right" questions, free from judgement or ridicule, they'd probably open up.. but thier most probably doped up to the eyeballs now and rendered useless to investigators.. sadly.

Strange story.

I'd look to the son Mitch for more clues. Why did he dump his phone? So he wasn't traced? Did he really travel to Melbourne like he said? Is it only the children asserting their parents were stressed?

Sounds like a planned murder of the father. Ella is in on it, going along with this fabricated story of them fearing for their lives. The motive? The usual, money, life insurance, will.

Very easy to usher your parents out of their home with hop in the car I want to show you something, come quick, I'll lock up .... You don't need your phones. All this business of no phones is to stop the tracing of whereabouts

Just seems it's the children who have all the facts. You can bet this son is the focus of a police investigation and endless interrogation

Of course I'm just being suspicious. Hopefully it turns out well and the father is found alive

Fixed the link

I don´t know, maybe the parents found the mushroom stash or collected the wrong ones and thought it was just champions? Then the father went into the woods, the mother had a toxic reaction or breakdown. I mean, becoming paranoid and mental in just a few days if I got this right. There has to be drugs involved?

Could the family have "offed" the father and come up with this bizarre story ?

Unless the money was owed to shady underworld figures, people don't react this way to overpowering debt, unless maybe a large insurance payout and faked deaths are deployed ... hmmm.

I dont think so: the father was seen following a fellow motorist in his car and pulled over, jumped out and ran into the forest. The other driver called the police and was really shaken up.

I have no evidence for this it is purely speculation:

When I first read the story and the facts that both parents were acting erratically fearing they were being chased it seemed a stretch that mental illness would effect both of them when they had no previous history of mental health issues. Perhaps it's an organic madness, either illegal drugs etc or some sort of chemical theyve been exposed to.

Who knows maybe we'll find that their house went through a haunting that drove them mad or there was a UFO sighting around the area when they absconded - anyones guess at this point

It sounds more like a mental heath issue than anything nefarious to me anyway.
If that's the case I wouldn't expect rational behavior from them.

Yes, which makes it a shame that the thing has become national news.
That is precisely what a sense of paranoia would make someone anxious about.

I'm thinking he either has a past and someone from the past located him..

... or he's mentally deranged and it was an attempted murder suicide.

I'm with you on that theory; I'm trying to think what would make those two women steal a car to get away from the parents ? If your life was in danger you would.

Also I've heard of technology free days but to throw out your phone because of it ?

Someone is looking for them and it's not paranormal..they're going off the grid to hide from someone or some group.

Most likely the kids just found out the extent of it and are coping with it in various ways.

Pretty bad, in order for the mother and daughter to be off the rails as well. When the son is interviewed he seems to be still in shock...

The area in question is well known for drugs and bike gang activity......could be as simple as a deal gone wrong....

They do not seem like drug types. Way too wholesome. Farm folk....sometimes outside appearances can be deceiving but I don't think so.???

My gut feeling is drugs are involved either users of drugs or involved with the drug trade. Drugs are bad, stay away!
