LOL! It does seem like there's a lot of us on these boards!
Maybe lefties do like conspiracies more. LOL! Yes I think it is very wrong to force a child like that to use their right hand. Some teachers used to tie the kid's left arm to their back everyday in school to make them use the right hand more.
That's just wrong. LOL! Check out this article on left handers, I like this one!

" American Psychological Association

Left-Handers more 'creative but forgetful'

An American scientist has gathered new evidence, on the link between left-handedness and intelectual creativity confirming that "true left-handers" tend to be more intelligent and eloquent than right-handers and better at solving problems.

Dr. Alan Searleman from St. Lawrence University, New York presenting his findings to the American Psychological Association's Annual conference said "Left-handers have a higher "fluid" intelligence and better vocabulary than the majority of the population. This is perhaps why there are more of them in creative professions, such as music, art, and writing."

Dr. Searleman says that people who throw balls with their left hand, use their left eyes to look through peep holes and place their left ear to the door to eavesdrop on conversations are twice as good at problem solving and have wider vocabularies than their right handed peers.

He enlisted 1,200 people for memory, vocabulary and problem solving tests.

He found that people who were "truely left-handers", who did everything on their left side, from kicking a football to picking up a glass of water, scored 1/3 more highly on vocabulary tests and twice as well on problem solving tasks.

People who were found to be "mixed", using both their left and right hands ears, eyes and feet for different tasks achieved the same scores as "true right handers".

The research also found that more left-handed people were intelectually gifted with IQs over 140, Dr. Searleman said.

On the downside, left handers were not so good at remembering things. "although left-handed people had poorer memories they were twice as good at all the problem-solving tasks. " he said.

One in 10 people is a left-hander, a characteristic once seen as a sign of the devil. The word "sinister" means "left" in Latin. Pupils would have their left hand tied behind their back by teachers to force them to write with their right hand. "

Impressive lists there I hadn't heard some of those.

I'm left-handed and I dont have a problem with dyslexia but I do have dyscalculia. It's kinda weird I dont really understand what I am to do when I see an mathematical equation, I need visual representations or read it over and over until I see it in my mind in order to fully grasp what is being asked of me. I was always great in science, art and music but if it required a higher level of math I was up the creek..lol

whats the cause and effect ?

if I know a lefty , and that lefty is gay and a criminal, its logical to assume its due to the left-handedness ? or lefty's are more likley to be gay criminals.....

NO !!!

Yeah math is not my strong point either.
General education math I can do fine but when you get into higher college levels. Yuk! I hate it!

There isn't a lot of data on cause and effect of left-handedness (that I know of, anyway), and I think people are just having fun relating to south-paws.

Im a total mess when it comes to using left or right handed things. Im left handed with most things but I use my right hand for scissors.

When it comes to sports, I throw left handed but bat right handed, Im right handed in golf but left handed in any racquet sports which gives me an advantage, Im also strongly left footed which means I can get into any team because theres a shortage of left sided players.

I also swap my mouse buttons round which means noone else can get used to my computer.

In short some things are a pain in the arse like ergonomic mice or cheque books but the advantage in sports makes up for it.

I'm left-handed, my wife's left-handed, and my two daughters are left-handed. The only problems I have are finding golf gloves and writing in a notebook. Both my daughters are artists, my wife is in nursing school (soon to graduate RN), and I'm maintaining a 3.96 GPA in college(Damn A-).
So... what was that problem with being left-handed?

I guess the report says that if lefties drive , you are more likely to get into a head on collision than righties. (here in the US- wonder what it is for Europeans?)

I'm a lefty- which kinda makes playing the piano a whole lot easier- never could understand people who say they can't make their left hand play simple chords- and melody with the right.

Cut scissors right handed, and there's a mouse on the right.
Bowl left (10 yrs. ago)
Bat right-throw right baseball and football
Ping-pong left
Tennis left
Hammer right

hmmmmm maybe I'm ambidextrous- but I definitely can't write with left hand- although typing is more typical than writing anyhoo

Another lefty here.
I used to be able to write with either hand when I was younger but my Grandmother told me to pick one hand and stick with it and I chose to use my left hand.

I do everything else with my right hand.

I don't have any learning disabilities but my memory is not as good as I would like it to be.

My grandfather lived to be 83. Guess what hand he used to write with. Sorry for "putting on airs" people, but I'm just tired of modern science stigmatizing left-handed people. When it comes to all this codswallop surrounding southpaws-- Guess what? They're only right( no pun intended) fifty-percent of the time.

I was wondering do left hand ppl tend to do everything from their left side first? Like getting out of the shower or something. And whenever I put on a sock or a shoe, my left foot would always go first.

Yet another lefty here! AM thinking lefties do like conspiracies, or maybe we just dont fall for rubbish, as one bible quote here said, god collected the "sheep"!! with his right hand, maybe lefties dont follow directions around like sheep???! just an idea.

Handwriting is rubbish
Hate higher level maths, is evil and i cant do it!! grr
Am generally good at sports
Bit clumsy sumtimes
Was a premature baby by a few weeks

Study architecture at university and over 2/3s are lefties and alot are dyslexiic.

Also know a load of students doing art are lefties
mum leftie dad righty, most other ppl in the family are lefties.

definatly not ill or gay,

I've never understood why there aren't more left handers than there are. I want to say that I've read that some Scientists think left-handedness could be related to excess testosterone in utero. I believe that both sexes recieve both male and female hormones in the womb. Variations in these hormone levels could explain partly why there are manly women and womanly men, and all the variations in between. If left-handedness is related to testosterone, I can also see how left-handers could have a shorter lifetime because of the effects of excess hormones. Extra testosterone could also explain the observation of agressiveness in left-handers. Part of it could simply be overdevelopment of the right side of the brain, hence left-handedness. Parts of the emotions and creativeness is said to exist in the right brain, so that could explain why left-handers are very creative.

I guess I'm all screwed up...I write with both hands, eat right handed, bat and play golf left-handed, shoot pool right handed, shoot a rifle right handed, kick right footed, play guitar lefty, and use a mouse with my right hand. I am left eye dominant. I've tried to eat left-handed, and almost stuck the fork in my eye! Viva la differance!

This report has no significant evidence or proof to show left-handed people are aggressive, dumb, dyslexic etc..... A lot of studies but no proof. From what I can tell these people were out to give lefties a bad name. They need not do.

ol' ronny, bill and the rest of the cowboys of the USA have done that for us

This is most weird as I have the exact same problem. But give me something pysical to do like drive a car, fix a computer, read a book and I have no problems but I cannot write proper (hence why I got into computers).
I tend to write at an angle and with big letters unless there are guidelines. Has anyone else seen/have this???

Oh my, left handedness is not a disease, being in minority you just have to expect this wonder monster treatment.
Why anyone is trying to show these things, left hand is right brain related and this is it, Is therre any proof this affects other brain functions?
Maybe it does not, but being laeft handed and surrounded by right handed people it makes certain differences in being yourslef, that is for sure, left handed people are always some proportion of people, yes it has to be a reason for that, which we still can not find out.

i went to live in Arizona from 1990- 1997

it seems i was aware of just how many left-handers there were there,

that state had the highest percentage of the population as lefties
than any of the 10 other states and 2 countries i've ever lived in.

Well as I've stated before, I am a lefty. I do most everything with my left hand. The one thing I want to say is that there is absolutely a discrimination against lefties. There are very, very few left handed articles to use.
LEFTIES - ever try to use scissors? How about a stick shift in a car. How about trying to eat at a table with righties - not a good scene......
I could go on and on.
Thoughts?
