Hello all,
Ive decided to buy a Savannah Cat. I put my deposit down a few weeks back and will be able to pick up my F1 Male in a month or so
Im curious if anyone else has a Savannah cat and if so, please do tell!

I was shown pictures of this little boys parents and the mother is HUGE, and very affectionate. The breeder sent me videos of the mother jumping 7 feet into the air as well, the mother being affectionate with the breeder and the breeders children. Im really looking forward to my little guy.
So please, do tell what sort of traits can I expect with a Savannah? Does anyone here have any experience with them?

I have a Bengal and I love him to death. Kind of a cross between a cat and dog. Fearless, playful, CURIOUS and loveable.

Oh yeah, loves water.

I am jealous of you, always wanted a Savannah. Cost was kind of a problem though.

If you don't mind me asking about how much did you pay for him?

Love this video of Magic the Savannah waking up his little buddy!

Here is my Bengal, Orion, watching the Hummingbirds.

And as a little guy.

I love Bengals. He is so handsome!
Well the breeder required a 50% deposit before he was even born. That was $4500. The remainder to be paid upon pick up.
so $9000 total plus an Air Canada flight ticket for $250 so he can be shipped up here.
But that $9000 includes everything: TICA (The International Cat Association) & CCA (Canadian Cat Association) Registration
Vaccinations x2, Deworming x 2-4, Microchip, Vet records including fecal exam showing they’re free of parasites
2 Year Written Health Guarantee, 6 Weeks free pet insurance
Lifetime breeder support
premium food, blanket that smells like mom, toys and bowls

I was emailed papers that both parents are not related. So theres no risk of inbreeding.

Im really excited to be able to walk my cat down the road lol

Yep, that's about the price range I figured.

Speaking of walking, have you seen the video on YT of what one brought home?

Hint: It was a little bigger than a mouse.
I would post it but it may upset some people.

I am very happy for you!

My friend has a female savannah . They feed her lots of chicken . She's about 7 or 8 years old now, and I remember as a kitten she played pretty rough .but she's beautiful and a great cat now, all though she doesn't get alone with other pets . Good luck with your new kitty and would love to see pics.

Bengals are amazing.

One lives in my road and she made freinds with the neighbourhood. Visits everyone and has a good chat.

She doesn't get on with my maincoon very much

I've seen where owners have created entire outdoor enclosures for these cats. They are beautiful and big and they can destroy furniture in a very short time. This is what I've heard anyway I have never even seen one except on tv. I'm guessing you know how to raise them though so Good luck. And Enjoy.

Thats one thing im worried about. The breeder says that as long as the kitty is introduced at a young age to other animals, than it will grow up feeling normal. I have a 135 lb Alaskan malamut, and 2 other cats - Rocky and Adrienne. The dog, is terrified of the cats. They walk all over him. Im sort of worried about the other 2 cats.
They have grown up together from birth. They are 9 years old now and set in their ways lol.
i figure as long as its a slow introduction to the other cats, everything will be fine. But the thing is, this little guy is going to be stressed out as it is. Hes going to on an air plane coming to me. I think I will put the other animals in another part of the house while this little guys relaxes after his 2 hours flight.

My friend has two Savannah cats. Both very social and friendly. Their pretty independent but one has become a cuddler.

Their very talkative.

Also they eat like its the end of the world. Like a whole chicken a day practically.

I only know from what ive read and what the breeder has told me. Thats why I posted on here. Then i posted on a savannah board and got some great information. I had to fill out a 2 page questionnaire before being approved to buy from her.

They love to be outside, but as they mature, its in their instincts to leave the house. Domestic cats have the instincts to return to their home to eat and sleep. From what ive read, Savannahs will just keep roaming and never return.

I think next spring, we will build a large outdoor enclosure for him to lounge in. It wont be his residence, this big guy is gonna live in the house of course. But on nice days he will be able to play outside at least on his own.
Also, I was told that they should be walked just as often as a dog. Which will be good.
My wife can walk her dog, and ill walk the cat hahaha
