This video is from the CLINTON GLOBAL INITIATIVE YouTube channel.

At 10.35 into the video, Bill talks about an idea of 10,000 Syrian refugees + 10,000 current structurally sound empty houses in Detroit + "a lot of jobs to be had, repairing those houses" = "Innovative urban homesteading program".

He goes on to say that this is an example of what can be done and that anyone who is familiar with "Syrian-Americans and Syrian refugees, think it's a pretty good deal".

This video is from February this year and has just come across my feed from (trigger warning) Breitbart, however I am not going to link their article, instead I'll post the video directly from the CGI and allow ATS membership to make up their own minds about Bills suggestion.

If Hillary becomes President do you think she would enact such a program or is this just general musings by Bill and that it is not anyones intention to consider the idea beyond just that - an idea?

Thoughts?

10,000 refugees which will be almost guaranteed to have Islamist radical infiltrators within their ranks heading to Detroit of all places.

Yeah, i'm sure that'll work wonders for the Mogadishu-like Detroit

God damn Democrats will throw promises in the direction of any demographic that can be used as a tool...votes are votes.

And the sad thing is, they have it down to an Art.

GOP better learn to play hard ball, or they're gonna get sodomized.

The repairs on those vacant houses is likely astronomical at such a scale. Same story as that entire city, hence it's left abandoned.

And that's a 'nice' video example.

Back in the 90's I remember driving around the City of Detroit. I mean even out by the businesses along the main roads, it was painfully obvious that a great many we'd pass by hadn't seen a coat of paint since the riots & white flight of the 60's. That was in the 90's. Using the businesses not paintin' up for so long as a metric, my expectations for many of the houses is dire.

Youtube "detroit vacant houses" has "About 17,900 results". Have fun with all that.

Oh, and then there's the part that scrapper thieves have been ripping the copper wires and everything else straight out the walls of ages. I hear stories direct. So this isn't just roofing, patching walls, new windows we're talking about here. Most of those houses, like the old factories, are finished. The ship sailed 50 years ago, and it has sunk.

No thoughts of placing the homeless ghetto US citizens in housing or jobs though, because they are already suckered voters. These refugees are just new Democrat voting slaves for the power of elections.

Yep. Then there's that.

I suppose they'd want to import a few more Dem voters, as the Dem's power strangle hold over the state has been slipping for years. I dont know a single person up there that buys any of their crap any more.

Maybe Bill the Elitist might ought to go drive around for a week up there. Him and all the rest.

Cities like Baltimore and Detroit are begging for refugees. They need the workers and the tax base. Although 10,000 is a tiny number so its over all effect would not be great. These are people who risked their lives to escape war and radical and then spent 2 years being investigated and questioned over and over by a half dozen agencies knowing that they have less than a 1% of getting. They are exactly what some of dying cities need.

Sickening. I mean the reaction here. Canada has taken in 10's of thousands. At least 30 at last call. But we aren't the land of the brave though.
I'm sure some will see that as a reason to wall off Canada. Please do. We ain't paying for it though.

It sounds nice, unless you've been to such a place.

Any entrepreneur can go buy those houses for like $100. Not a typo: $100. There's a reason so much is left to rot. Just the demo & cleaning out of the endless streets as video'd above, where to even put all the garbage, oh my. Sooo many of those houses, entire streets of them, need to be bulldozed. Then there's the commercial / industrial buildings everywhere...

That's a good one coming from old Bill. Hes the reason Detroit is in the shape it's in. Bill pushed for and signed into law the NAFTA that allowed GM and other auto makers to move production to Mexico. How about we put American citizens first for once.

I must admit to being a bit confused.

I was under the impression that when people immigrated into the country that they assimilated into the culture.

I wasn't aware of any time or place in recent memory of segregating a population of people to a specific geographical location.

Is it just me, or does this sound a bit racist.

Sounds like a Trump plan. Doze it and then maybe deal with it. Well said.

I read somewhere yesterday that a new refugee vetting-process/program has been approved by the government. I suppose the question will invariably come down to:

1. Would it be cheaper/better investment/other to spend the money on existing citizens inlieu of refugees?
2. Will the vetting process be robust enough to ensure no radicals slip through and cause The Pulse on steroids?
3. How will integration occur if existing Detroit citizens are not in favour of this plan, could it cause additional problems?

These are the questions that came to my mind as I listened to his comments.

You guys do realize the US has been importing refugees and political activists from the Middle East for decades now, right?

You guys do know the US has the longest vetting process in the entire world, right? Two years at least, right?

Well from what I've heard you are going to get the best pizza and the best deli in NYC. High population of Italians and Jews. And believe me they and many others, like Irish, took a helluva lot of crap when they got here.

Like the Lebanese got here back in the 70's. FEAR. Some hated them but they only made our culture better.

lOL Your kidding me, its like the democrats who are running this show have some type of board game and they are playing each other to see who can screw up this country even more but they are actually doing this stuff. Maybe they will dump another 10,000 in Chicago, hahah Ill bet they will wish they were back in Syria.
