I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the only business most of these people are interested in is their street corner business.
Coincidently, that's likely why a good portion of these shootings are happening, one business is infringing on another's corner, stealing customers, whatever.

Madam ShadowLink- I'll hold that limb as there is absolutely zero chance of it falling from falsehood. I'd also wager that these guys would do no worse than the Money Managers; Hedge Fund guys and guys like Chelsea Clinton's Goldman-Sucks flunkie who lost 90% of the fund He was managing.

The folks mentioned Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton want anything as long as it is NOT racial harmony. They are "pot stirrers" to the highest degree. If there is harmony then their "special skills" won't be needed. What "Special Skills" You ask? They must have some or why do they keep getting called? Check their financials and try and figure out how much $$ they have amassed by doing 'non-profit' work.

I worked in a section of a med.lg Ca. city and in the mid 90s We led the league in murders per capita. This was the tail end of 'The Crack War' That was when the Urban male (read: Black or 'other') went to PRISON for coming up w/the idea of 'rocking it up' making a smokable form of coc aine. These folks were usually non-affluent and non-voters. They received sentences of 20-25 years and are just now getting out of prison. In the suburbs, the affluent, voting, usual white received PROBATION for using the same drug but in a powder form. CocaineHCL hydrochloride. A majority of these murders were drug related. Either a large sum of $$ was owed or trying to eliminate the competition.

HBO™ is currently airing a series named "The Night Of" where a Pakistani student gets railroaded and just during the trial phase it turns Him into a whole other person..

But to type there is just 1 answer We'd be kidding ourselves. When I looked at this like that I thought maybe all that "fly over land" and try and build a new City out in the middle of nowhere. Hire the folks from all over. They build everything, from the roads to get there to the houses they'll live in and the stores that they will shop in. I'm thinking this will build in some "Pride of Ownership" It is easy to give up if You have no skin in the game..

This rapper was filming a pro BLM/anti-police violence rap video and he is shot in a gang related drive by...

Reading his lyrics they are all about gangs, guns, violence, and drugs...

There is a cultural issue that needs to be addressed.

Every time I read about another weekend in Chicago, it stuns me.

For the life of me I cannot understand why this does not have a national response. What would that look like? I don't know. I guess that's one for debate here.

Bring it up in discussion and the gibberish starts flowing. 'The violence is a function of white privileged.' 'Trump is fueling the bigotry, it's his fault.' 'Why are you overlooking what the police are doing?' On and on in an avalanche of non sequitur.

It's insanity trying to discuss the issue. Personal responsibility and the human condition are foreign concepts I guess. The crux of it all is if some NFL player stands or sits for the national anthem. Meanwhile the hospitals and morgues fill up.

It makes me want to give up.

Sorry to be so down on my response to your OP.

Basically, the US feds permit Sinaloa clean drugs routes all the way up to Chicago, where lesser gangs handle distribution to other American cities, via still other gangs.

In return, Sinaloa provides the feds actionable intelligence on its rival Mexican cartels.jonrappoport.wordpress.com...

so, what`s the problem? just let them keep killing themselves off. everybody with any sense has already left that #hole long ago, any "innocent" people who still live there and get killed have no one to blame except themselves.

That's the same backward mentality as the people who say if a woman is scantily dressed and gets raped, she was asking for it. You make it sound as if it's a cakewalk to sell your home, find employment somewhere else, buy another home, leave your current employer and every shred of seniority you've built up, plus all your benefits, yank your kids out of school and completely uproot your entire family...that may be the case for a few people, but for the average family in this country, it is simply not feasible.

So people who can't afford to relocate deserve to die because of it? They're the ones to blame; the ones innocent of any wrongdoing, respectable taxpaying citizens who bust their asses for every single thing they have? Get out of here with that nonsense.

The death penalty should be applied to all 1st and 2nd degree murders. The sentencing should be carried out 2 days after being found guilty of the crime. No more sitting in jail for years while using up appeals or give them life sentences. The jail system is no longer what it used to be. Maybe if these criminals knew they would lose their life immediately after being convicted they would think before they killed!!

Gangs who are known to have members who have committed crimes, deal drugs and are involved in shootings should be illegal! Street gangs should be rounded up and put in FEMA camps with other gang members. Let them live among themselves and have them fight and kill each other!

Better yet, put them all on a boat and sink it in the Atlantic. The world would be a much better place and it would save taxpayer's a lot of money.

As you can tell, I have no sympathy for anyone who would intentionally maim or take an innocent life

The problem with this violence at state level is that belong to the state officials to do whatever they need to fix the problem, only if the state is suffering from racial violence, riots and insurrection can the state ask the federal government to intervene, or if the death toll is so high that the state starts to lose control over the state residents and the state government stops to function.

Principles for State-Federal Relations

1 Preamble

The relationship and authority of states and the federal government are governed by the U.S. Constitution. The federal government is delegated certain enumerated powers while all other powers not otherwise prohibited by the Constitution are reserved to the states. America has thrived as a nation of laws with a strong national and international identity anchored by the diversity and innovation of representative self government in the states. It is vital that the National Governors Association works to preserve and promote a balanced relationship between the states, territories and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (herein referred to as “States”) and the federal government.

2 Principles for State-Federal Relations

Governors believe that federal action should be limited to those duties and powers delegated to the federal government under the Constitution. We favor the preservation of state sovereignty when legislating or regulating activity in the states. To ensure the proper balance between state and federal action and to promote a strong and cooperative state-federal relationship, governors encourage federal officials to adhere to the following guidelines when developing laws and regulations.

2.1 Exercise Federal Forbearance. Governors recommend that:
Federal action should be limited to situations in which constitutional authority for action is clear and certain.
Federal action should be limited to problems that are truly national in scope.
Federal action should be sensitive to each state’s ability to bring a unique blend of resources and approaches to common problems.
Unless the national interest is at risk, federal action should not preempt additional state action.

2.2 Avoid Federal Preemption of State Laws and Policies. Governors recognize the need for federal intervention should states fail to act collectively on issues of legitimate concern. Preemption of state laws, however, should be the exception rather than the rule. This is especially true in areas of primary state responsibility, including education, insurance regulation, criminal justice, preservation of the dual banking system, preservation of state securities regulation, and the management of state personnel programs.

a reply to: marg6043Enormous federal programs such as Social Security, Medicare and the recently pass Healthcare Reform. What happened to the enumerated powers?
How did these things possibly get by the Supreme Court? Not that aid to citizens is wrong but it was never intended to be the role of the federal government.
That's what the 10th amendment was for, reserving all other powers than those enumerated to the federal government for the states.
The states should be providing these programs if they so choose and if they work they will compete with other states for populace and hence power in the House. This is how it was meant to be.

the states are engaging in no competition other than that for federal funds.

The federal government has killed the Republic, but while it has done it with bribery in the name of Federal debt, the laws that stand between the powers of the Republic and the Federal government have not changed at all.

Only when is convenient for the Federal government to intervene they do so, meanwhile the federal government is letting the states stand by themselves.

Just a year ago Obama was asked to do something

The president as the leader of the nation can declare a state of emergence in Chicago

wgntv.com...

CHICAGO -- Members of Operation PUSH announced Saturday they want President Obama to declare a state of emergency in Chicago as gun violence continues to plague the city.

Reverend Jesse Jackson today called for a White House conference on gun violence in Chicago, urging the president to return home to address the issue.

The president recently visited Roseburg, Ore., after the shooting at a community college there, and Rev. Jackson believes focus should also be put on Chicago.

Since the first of the year, nearly 2,400 people have been shot -- more than 350 killed.
On Friday night, three people were shot on the West Side, an area PUSH members call the most violent in Chicago.
Rev. Jackson says he is not pointing fingers at Mayor Emanuel or Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy.
If a White House conference were to happen, Jackson says he wants the focus to be on economic empowerment, sensible gun regulation and resources for mental health treatment.

Obama if he had any moral sense in his spine would do this but he is NOT a leader who risks anything. He is a leader of expedience.

I see your point, but when the local government, states or city doesn’t do anything to resolve such violence and community disruption it is the duty of the federal government to step in and provide leadership.

Unfortunately Obama is not proving the moral leadership expected of a president

This violence can almost be likened to natural disaster to the people in Chicago.

And it needs to be said by everyone if there is ever going to be a solution.

Yes,
action should have been taken
at least 2 years ago.
The reality is, he doesn't care.
Period.

He will go down in history as the first
Negro American President.
It is Book Deals, Kobe Beef ,Golf,
U.N. appointments,pardons,etc. from now on.

His girls are going off to college soon.
Chicago can burn again as far as he is concerned.
If your fellow readers of this post would rather
shun reality and label me nasty for the Negro term,
they can address it to the UNCF.

In fact, I donate to the UNCF.

Ideas:

Set up a State/City/Federal government crime commission

Emergency powers for the mayor to declare certain areas of Chicago subject to massive police intrusion: Local police, State Troopers, ATF, and FBI for gang destruction and even Trained Vigilante groups and squads activated to monitor and arrest known gang members.

Get the state legislature to enact laws criminalizing the very existence of gangs just like it’s a crime to be a member of ISIS. Use RICO Statutes just like they did against the mafia.

Add more prosecutors in order to initiate swift justice to the street criminals

The fact that they don't do this type operation is in itself suspicious and BLACK PEOPLE SHOULD BE RAILING AGAINST OBAMA!!!! And the state/city/government politicians

Not any white cops in sparse incidents here and there.

The only thing Obama has done is inciting racial division and more violence, sadly is laws in place when it comes to intervention by a the federal government, into the affairs of the states.

As hard and ugly as it seems is still a state issue and the state officials need to find a solution. Unless is a natural disaster, terrorist attacks, nuclear attacks.

There is no more irregular use of force than the use of force
domestically. There are rare times, however, when the
Commander-in-Chief can, and must, order federal troops to
respond to internal crises—whether catastrophic natural
disasters, devastating nuclear accidents, or terrorist attacks.
At times, the President may even have to direct federal
forces to ensure the equitable enforcement of federal law,
including civil rights laws, against armed opposition. It is
therefore critical to understand presidential emergency and
war powers relative to the powers wielded by those who
could most readily enhance or undermine these presidential
efforts: the power of the state governors.

The law under the constitution can not allow the Federal government to do much when it comes to states internal problems.

In 2006, Congress joined the attack on federalism,6 passing a law
specifically authorizing the President, without state request or consent, to
use the armed forces to restore public order after a “natural disaster,
epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or
incident, or other condition.”7 All fifty governors opposed this statute,
viewing it as a presidential power grab. They succeeded in getting it
repealed one year later.8 For then-Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, later
President Obama’s Secretary of Homeland Security, this statute would
“cause confusion in the command-and-control of the National Guard and
interfere with states’ ability to respond to natural disasters within their
borders.”9

In order for the federal government to restore order within the states due to domestic problems is with the use of the national guard or the military and it has to be under certain guide lines, violence within the inner cities in Chicago doesn't fall under those guidelines.

I'm black and live in Chicago. I'm literally at the point where I've just decided to sell out. I don't want my son anywhere near any of this nonsense. Sick of this sh*t.

The black community simply does not have the will power nor the intellectual honesty necessary to deal with the problem.

And that is the beginning, but for some reason the state officials and those in power are more preoccupied by public opinion than the safety of their citizens.

They want to relegate the problems to the federal government.
