I saw that film as a kid and she definitely had braces.

That Pepsi commercial (or whatever brand it was) is a likely source of this common misrememberance, especially when combined with the bizarre braces-like video artifacts that were posted at the link earlier.

Everyone is assuming that Mandela effect means shifting timelines.

That is not the case. Shifting timelines is just one theory of what may be causing the ME.

Personally I don't think anyone is shifting timelines. We are all stuck in the same timeline and things here, in this single reality are being altered, or edited.

Some people just simply don't remember certain changes or refuse to believe.

Even if "editing reality" is substituted for "shifting timelines," we have the same dilemma I pointed out earlier, specifically that the edit would have specifically had to have altered the memories of the cast and crew of the film, who are on record as saying she didn't wear braces. That to me is much more problematic than even the shifting timelines hypothesis, because if "they" have the power to edit our memories, who's to say they haven't just screwed with everyone's memory, in which case we're right back to the "faulty memory" hypothesis, although now with a cool science-fiction premise.

I never saw such a commercial, so no. The memory is associated with the movie and a commercial has nothing to do with it. Seems like the commercial was actually refering to the movie, and therefore showing braces.

especially when combined with the bizarre braces-like video artifacts that were posted at the link earlier.

You mean those zoomed in stills that still don't even remotely show braces?

No. They are zoomed in, but they are not stills. The link was posted by another member on the previous page. Feel free to check it out. It's really interesting.

No one can tell you why your particular memory is as it is. I am hypothesizing about the likely sociological causes that would apply to the population as a whole. I vaguely remember that commercial too, but I wouldn't have remembered it at all if another member hadn't mentioned it.

Such is human memory. Sadly, it's just not very reliable, especially when it comes to basic trivia that one doesn't rely on for their day to day functioning.

Dolly never had braces. The reason Jaws liked her was because she wasn't put off by his appearance, because of her poor vision. It was because of this imperfection he was attracted to her, not braces. I'm 56 and remember the movie when it first came out, and I can't recall her with braces. Maybe I was a victim of the ME thirty-seven years ago.

Jaws suddenly realizes that Drax' plan will not include either himself, because of his abnormal size and his steel teeth and Dolly because of her imperfect vision.

This is seriously doing my head in, i remember her with braces, great big train tracks they were.

Sometimes there are different versions of films, especially back in the 1980s with a cinema version, tv version (with gory bits cut out like the acid face part of robocop), directors cut etc. Were there different versions of Moonraker? I know Moonraker has no gory bits in but could there have been 2 versions of the film? Its the only thing i can think of. Why would so many people remember something that wasnt there.

Its like someone saying Superman had blonde hair, us saying no it was dark hair, only to find he has blonde hair on all pics and vids. Rubbish example i know but thats all it is, an example.

A long shot, but does anyone have the original cinema copy?

Her glasses are useless? Why is she wearing glasses if she still can't see with them.

Can someone please help me?! I took a pic of a commercial that aired today 8/27/16 that clearly shows an ad for an episode of BERENSTEIN BEARS, my son was watching his cartoons and I seen it come across, i rewinded it and took a pic but cant figure out how to post the pic here, any help would be appreciated. My wife thought I was nuts but this seemed very very odd to me, having researched the Mandela Effect in great detail

They are zoomed in, but they are not stills.

They were moving images? I see no zoomed in moving footage. Whatever, my point is that even in those zoomed in and slowed down or still pics there still is no hint of braces whatsoever, so why would one get this idea from watching the movie in normal way.

What is there to figure out she didn't have braces and the ME is nothing more than a coined phrase from a paranormal investigator from 2010?

Google is your friend.

Tell you what since you swear she had braces then you can provide a simple pic from the movie that shows them...do that and you may be on to something...if you can't then guess what your thread is nothing more than a false memory.

Does that compute?

Yes, they were moving images. And especially when they are in motion, with each frame lasting only 1/24 of a second, it does give the indication that she could very well be wearing braces.

She definitely had braces in the Original film. I remember that clearly. Nothing faulty there.

I don't know about the Mandela effect, but this one thing has me scratching my head.

We can't all have faulty memories about this movie.

Forget that, in my timeline George Lazenby was Bond in this one.

Can you post the link cause the page I am looking at has all stills except one GIF. None of them even give the impression of braces and from just watching the movie in a normal way there is nothing that makes it look like she is wearing braces.

If we actually had 100 different people claim that George Lazenby was James Bond in multiple James Bond movies (or heck, even just one), and these stories were given to researchers without the participants having corroborated with each other ahead of time, THEN we might be onto something interesting.

How obtuse can you be. Off course all the footage shows she has no braces. Did you even read the OP in which I say she doesn't have braces and the footage I posted showing she has no braces.
