I hear music a lot that doesn't actually exist. The majority of the time it happens is late at night/ early morning between 1-5am. Its bizarre. Sometimes I hear laughter and voices almost like I'm in a party atmosphere.
So maybe it was some weird thing that happened while you were camping
Or maybe some of us have brains that like to play games on occasion. I'm not sure!
I'm glad you're okay however!

I don't know if you have ever heard of the show "finding bigfoot" or something along those lines, but they came out to my local state park, which I live about 10 minutes from and did some sort of "investigation" out there. There was a thread a while back about the army and the smokies or rockies ( can't remember which one) in which they were supposedly protecting something, but it was pretty interesting you should try finding it.

LAst Saturday night / Sunday morn at about 2:30 I was woke up by a party about a quarter mile away. Sounded like about 20 people. Suddenly they broke into some school song and all went silent after that. Strange world. We went looking for the spot but didn't find anything.

My family had that experience while camping in central Texas a few decades ago. It was a flute. Charming. And you grabbed your "weapon?" Strange response. Now, if instead, it was a Sasquatch grunting....

For lack of a better term, "Ghost music" is usually fleeting like in and out audible range. if this was clear and steady then probably someone nearby. You brought a 'flute' (weapon), should of played that twice and see what happened.
(insert haunting Flute music) KTOW, KTOW (Echos in the silence).
Nighty, night.

Not a gun, hatchet lol - ghost music, going to look that up as well. Thank you!
