BREAKING: American University Under Attack in Kabul, Afghanistan

This has been happening for about an hour now. Details are still sketchy...but Twitter reports are coming in.

The American University of Afghanistan in Kabul is under assault, as security forces exchange gunfire with the attackers. The number of students and professors inside are unknown, as is the identity of the attackers.

The U.S. State Department acknowledged reports of the attack on an official Twitter account.

"Reports of attack on American University in Kabul. Exercise caution, avoid unnecessary movement in the area & monitor news for updates," the agency said.

Massoud Hossaini, a photographer for The Associated Press, tweeted that he is trapped inside.

“Help we are stuck inside AUAF and shooting flollowed [sic] by Explo this maybe my last tweets,” he wrote.

The attackers managed to enter Noor Hospital, adjacent to the school, according to eyewitnesses.

Two professors at the university -- one American and one Australian -- were abducted at gun point earlier this month.

I asked about this in the thread stating that ISIS was "on the run with their days numbered". I pray that law enforcement is able to end this quickly with little bloodshed... except that of the terrorists of course.

Well.......duh!

What dumb#ss named the school the "American University"? Should have called it "Taliban U" or Osma Bin Laden University, or "University of the Koran", or "Mohamed's University for Advanced study of the Book".

Hell, anything would have been better; even something like University of "His Most Holy Decency".

This report--just in--says several students are killed.

HUNDREDS of students are trapped after gunfire and explosions erupted at the American University in Kabul. Witnesses report a fierce gun battle at the campus in Afghanistan’s capital.

Multiple militants are carrying out an assault on the university, during which several students have been killed.

One student inside the building said: “Several students been killed and injured; many students and professors are stuck.
“Some managed to escape, but we are still here. Please help us.”

Photos from the scene appears to show several fires and smoke billowing from the campus.

Afghan special forces are at the scene.

An Afghan interior ministry official said: “Several gunmen attacked the American University in Kabul and there are reports of gunfire and explosions.

“They are inside the compound and there are foreign professors along with hundreds of students.”

The way I look at it is that Mecca is about 15 minutes out from our base in Germany by way of an f-something. What we need is just for one guy over there to grow a pair and go rogue from the Hussein Obama admin. Just take a plane and a nuke and drop that mother on that spray painted rock all those dirty Muslims worship and let's get this party started.

I'm with you on this one - the terrorists are the only ones to blame. Nobody can justify attacking & killing unarmed teachers & students in a place of learning & progress, no matter the geopolitical tensions which may have affected the region. They are attacking unarmed, progressive civilians, and I hope the SF nail every single one of the #ers to the floor in a hail of bullets.

And you think nuking Mecca is NOT going to convince thousands (perhaps even hundreds of thousands) of Muslims to carry out revenge on us for doing so?

What a terrible idea. If the corporatocracy were to stop the illegal wars and raping other countries of their oil and other resources the West wouldn't have these extremists carrying out all these attacks, but now it's in perpetual motion and will continue, probably for the rest of MY natural life, perhaps for another century or even longer. Unfortunately the West has also done bad things overseas and that's mostly to blame for what is happening.

These terrorists have Special Forces en route so hope they brought clean undies, SOBs are going to go down but I hope the death toll is minimized and victims can be saved before it's too bad.
