maybe ats should give prizes for lots of stars and flags

does ats award prizes just thinking this might be a good insentive to get original contributions to ats

i post alot and i think my stars and flags are a healthy amount for my short time here but i see others with zillions of stars and flags
maybe they should be rewarded somehow

The zillions of stars you mention was the result of an error few years back.

Sure why not? They already give cookies for complaints

Unfortunately, the star thingee is kinda broken for many of us. As an example, I don't actually have over 10 million stars, a few thousand, at most.

Flag count is, so far as I'm aware, perfectly functional.

The rest of it is beyond my paygrade...and since I'm not paid anything...

If you happen to use the random ATS "secret word of the day" in one of your posts, you're granted 1,000 stars, or virgins. (I picked stars) The more you post, the more likely you are to use that secret word, and reap your reward! Post frequently and use lots of words, lortl. Good luck!

Look on your mini-profile at the side of your post.
The "cup" and "lightning flash" symbols indicate your "WATS score" and "karma score" respectively. Those are based on stars and flags and number of posts, so they are a kind of reward.
The chief difference is that the first always goes up, while the karma score has a "divide by the number of posts" written into the formula. So your 62 karma is quite high, indicating that you have received a large number of stars and flags in proportion to the number of posts made.

Considering people just star their friends for any old post, I don't think it's a good idea, it'd be a popularity contest more than anything.
Have you seen the amount of awesome well thought out posts that barely get stars, yet one liners, mean comments and people who are well known can literally type anything and get showered with stars.

A reward system for awesome content creation though, I think i'd support, but definitely not based on stars.

The "zillions" of stars is a mistake, some even appearing on a newer members postings. It was an error a few years back...and when the new format and look of ATS changed, it wasnt/couldnt have been corrected.

Those with millions and billions of stars and flags..is 99% in error.

Pay no mind to the stars and flags.
They mean nothing.

MAYBE ATS SHOULD GIVE PRIZES TO PEOPLE WHO POST NEW THREADS THAT AREN'T ABOUT THIS CRAPPY ELECTION!

Honestly, this has gotten entirely out of control and the worst part of it is that its almost always the intellectual bottom feeders that drone on about this election!

There should be a new tab for the election seperate and away from "new topics" so the rest of us can get on with our lives and enjoy lively discourse about interesting stuff!

Most of the time it seems like the stars I give people don't stick. But also, I don't think giving out prizes for stars and flags is a good idea anyway. I feel like then there would be even more unnecessary and desperate threads created. Like how for a while there, it seemed like a thread was created every time someone picked up a gun. "Active shooter in blah blah blah"

I know that I am not very popular,but some of my posts
have had several stars in the past.I didn't get those stars
from friends' only.

I once got fined a 1000 points for a post on a thread.
Protesting doesn't do any good either.

Well there is always silver and gold status which are kind of linked to stars and flags received.

I don't really pay any attention to stars or flags anymore to be honest. I did on my other profile before I was removed for giving my opinion on a MODS thread he didn't like that turned out to be what people were thinking but not saying.
After getting the boot out of here and starting a new member profile when that MOD left. I tend to stay in the background more often and only comment when I feel the need to do so.
