FBI, DOJ launch Probe into Firm of Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta

The FBI and DOJ have launched a corruption probe into The Podesta Group,
the lobbying firm of John Podesta, Hillary Clinton's long time campaign
Chairman. The investigation is aimed at ties to Russian influences.

This may break open the long and profitable ties the Clinton's
through the Clinton Foundation have had with Russia.

The FBI and Justice Department have launched an investigation into whether the Podesta Group, the lobbying and public relations firm co-founded by Hillary Clinton presidential campaign chairman John Podesta, has any connections to alleged corruption that occurred in the administration of former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.

Now that the FBI is involved, Podesta Group has quickly lawyered up and as a statement by CEO Fritts reveals, the firm has hired an outside legal counsel in anticipatory defense for what may be a significant legal battle for the pro-democratic think tank:

Say it ain't so. This morning Mook (Hillary's campaign manager) was on some news show, railing against Trump and his (and Manefort's) ties to Russia. He was chirping about Trump being Putin's puppet and how Hillary (and the Clinton Foundation) are squeaky clean from foreign influences.

That isn't entirely accurate. The spin has conveniently deflected away from Manifort and Another key individual in the Trump campaign, Rick Gates.

Although the Podesta Group was founded by Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, he has not been involved with the lobbying firm that bears his name for years.

His brother, Tony Podesta, is currently chairman of the firm.

According to an Associated Press report, the controversy centers around Rick Gates, the Trump campaign’s liaison to the Republican National Committee and a Manafort ally who also did work for the pro-Russian political party in Ukraine.

As part of his work for the Ukrainian political party, Gates connected the Podesta Group with the European Centre for a Modern Ukraine, a non-profit whose board originally contained Ukrainian members of parliament from the pro-Russian party. Read more: www.politico.com...

John Podesta is not involved. The article continues:

“The firm has retained Caplin & Drysdale as independent, outside legal counsel to determine if we were misled by the Centre for a Modern Ukraine or any other individuals with regard to the Centre’s potential ties to foreign governments or political parties,” Fritts said in her statement. “We will take whatever measures are necessary to address this situation based on Caplin & Drysdale’s review, including possible legal action against the Centre.”

As much as you want it to be, it isn't a Clinton scandal. If anything it's a scandal involving former campaign manager for Trump, Paul Manafort, and a Trump campaign liaison to the RNC. But of course the right wing "news" sources will spin this away from their chosen one.

You honestly think Manafort and Trump campaign liaison to the RNC, Mr Rick Gates, who originally got the Podedta Group to connect with the Ukrainians in the first place, you think they should not be the focus of this potentially illegal action?

Again, you would love for this to be a Clinton scandal, by claiming her association with the brother of the head of a lobbying firm that was, until proven otherwise, misled into working with a group under false pretenses.

You don't see the irony here? That by your logic this should be a Trump scandal?? His campaign manager? Not Clinton's, but Trump's was directly involved.

Two people from his campaign were DIRECTLY involved, not the brother of someone potentially involved.
