South China sea

This thread isn't going to be long. I've returned to ATS to pick a few military brains.

As you know China is building artificial islands in the South China sea to defend it's territorial claim to a huge swath of the region.
While exploring these islands i spotted on object i couldn't identify.

I'm not saying it's a secret facility or weapons platform. I've added to this forum purely because i don't know what it is.
I'd appreciate any answers you guys can give, if it's something mundane then my query will be resolved quickly.

Firstly, the picture from this year:

As you can see it's red and stands out, not sure why but it's how i spotted it.

Just to add, the object is about 50 metres in length and it's not the only one there... i did find another but i forgot to pinpoint it. It is in the same area.

The first 2, some kind of giant castle/bunker?

Could be a small UHF or over the horizon radar system.

I've had a look Zaph, can't find anything that looks similar.

Could it be some kind of smaller booster station because of the size or location of the area?

Yeah it could be. Usually OTH systems have the transmitter and receiver separated, that's why I suggested it. It's a good spot for a radar station.

Sorry I can't provide any additional information but replying to keep tabs on this thread. Some Of those islands are quite interesting to look at all sorts of structures appearing

I was surprised myself when i went to look at what's being built there.
It's a shame the pictures aren't very clear considering the others' in the area are high quality.

Very telling picture too, you can see the Chinese at work in the distance.
