I am happy it made you smile and your reply had me look it up. I have all ways used the phrase, very rarely, and God knows where I picked it up; as a favorite to express contempt, not knowing its actual meaning.

"Nincompoop" Earliest use 1676 from Latin non compus mentis (not of sound mind) a silly or foolish person.

I should use it more since know one knows what it means as in " Oh you are such a nice nincompoop"

No NO! Have many liquids. The higher the ABV% the better and funnier the conversations become without the worry of over hydration resulting in loss of fluids!
