These discriminatory laws and practices need to be seen in the larger context. Wall Street bankers looted billions of dollars through crooked schemes, devastating the finances of millions of Americans and saddling taxpayers with a massive bailout bill. Yet during my mission I did not hear any suggestions of a “War on Wall Street theft.” Instead, criminal justice resources go towards enforcing a different type of law and order, targeting primarily African-Americans and other minorities.

International org calls for federalization of U.S. law enforcement to be 'beefed up,' cover all of America
by Robert Romano | Updated 04 Aug 2016 at 3:07 PM
“The Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice has provided oversight and recommendations for improvement of police services in a number of cities with consent decrees. This is one of the most effective ways to reduce discrimination in law enforcement and it needs to be beefed up and increased to cover as many of the 18,000-plus local law enforcement jurisdictions.”
Or maybe it's merely the result of overt bigotry and racial hatred overcoming common sense.

Too right!
I for one have been pleading for moves like this and so have many others.
The treatment of Black Americans by so many PDs is pretty disgusting and is causing international outrage. When a SWAT team descends on a skinny 23 year old woman holding a kid, executes her in front of her five year old son and shoots him, too, we know something has gone terribly wrong with policing and bureacracy to the point of insanity.
You bet this is the right thing to do. Policing is too important and how it relates to social freedom, rights, race, etc. It requires Federal overseeing and nationwide standards.
I hope the coming years bring a reinvention of policing to meet the demands of the humanitarian 21st century.
