Music has progressed, it's very bit as thought provoking, innovative, experimental and dangerous as the stuff you heard as a kid...you just won't find
it unless you look for it. I think the downfall of ageing is it makes searching a chore instead of a joy, I used to have the time to do it now I can't
be arsed.
hey look here, i knew after you posted swamp music that there was a song with mockingbird in it. i just couldn't remember who did it. i was looking
up some james taylor songs and and found it.
don't you mean regressed? nothing the bubble gum chicks, boy bands, or little bieber boys types, sing about is thought provoking. most don't even have
a thought in their head other than how trendy they can be.
most other that actually play music don't do anything but make a lot of noise and their song sound like crap.
there maybe 5 to 10% that actually have talent and their music will have staying power like opethPA was talking about.
i can see 50 years from now some kid asking their parents after hearing/ watching a bieber boy video. mom , dad did yall really listen to that
crap.
look here there's a reason all the old songs are used in movies and tv commercials, cause it was when music was good.

You're talking about mainstream pop culture, that's been in a state of intellectual and creative decline for around 40 years. If you want good
contemporary music you have to dig for it like we always did, it's out there. Most of us just get to an age where we can't be bothered to look
anymore then point the finger at the mainstream and shake our heads at how crap it all is, it was always crap.
can;t forget this, some say this is what really brought rap into meain stream music, with the guy running around in the white tux is a tribute to, i
can't rememeber his name but he was suppose to be the one who started it.
ha, i just noticed that the one way or another was on the midnight special. anybody remember that.
there was another show like that came at a round the same time, can't remember the name of it. they both were on saturday nights late for a while.
your parents said the same about the music you like, and their parents about the music they liked etc...
just grow old gracefully, listen to what you like and stop telling people what they like isnt as good as what you like.
wrong, my mom was a rocker and listened to all the music of the 50's 60's 70's 80's. i when i was about 7or 8 yrs old there was a radio program
broadcast called the hit parade, that played all of the contemporary music of the time. we use to rock out and dance a@@es off.
my dad was into a lot of the outlaw country western types, kris kristoferson, johnny cash, waylon jennings willie nelson.
all of which have staying power.
better back up and try again.

Hey Hounddoghowlie, We might be neighbors. 99 rock FWB is my local rock station too.
Some people might not realize that the parents of people our age grew up in the 60s, 70s and they rocked. I "borrowed"
plenty of my dads LPs and still have a lot of them.
The last few days I've been rocking Toys in The Attic.
Bloodstains on the ivories of my daddy's baby grand....
