On the serious side, organ donation is a fine thing to do. Liable to make a few on a conspiracy site wet their britches with wide-eyed horror at 'body harvesting' and 'deals with evil aliens.'

At first, I ticked the boxes to donate major organs and squirmed at things like eyes. Kidneys and so on are just body parts and the eyes seem more personal; stupid eh?! Bit by bit, over the years, I've got everything ticked off. They can take the lot even though the heart is bruised and beaten and the liver has more miles on the clock than it should.

Save some lives and save your family the cost of cremations and burial plots. Sounds good!

I have left all of me also, not bothered they can put my head on a chimp body for all I care as long as it helps folk in the long run.

This is the reason we should have an opt out system.
If you don't opt out society can use your organs to help folk, maybe If we had this you and your daughter wouldn't be in this situation.

There's a wiki on it that's interesting - organ donation. There's still a black market in organs in some Third World (or close) nations. I guess the lure of money when you're dirt poor overrides the risks. As usual some predatory groups will be making plenty of money of it.

Yeah the opt-out system makes sense. It'd spook a lot of people so a decent PR campaign would be needed. Otherwise a fairly large section of society would think the State was overstepping its powers.

Incidentally, I've never received a card to keep in the wallet. You'd think that'd be standard because one of the first things 1st responders do is root around for ID. As it stands, valuable time could be lost while family are notified. Did you get one? Do you keep one on you?
